Just because they couldn't own a piece of Ansett, SQ is thinking of joining another alliance? See InsideFlyer this month!

Shocking!

Thanks a lot for your post, Celestar340! I tried searching Inside Flyer on their web site, but couldn't find the article - do you have a link or is it only in the printed issue.

There was an article in a CHC paper on the weekend confirming that due to all of the issues mentioned previously that the sale of AN by News Corp to either NZ or SQ was definetely off the table. Some were hoping for a last ditch effort - but in the end it was the Australian government that put the spanner in the works rather than the companies.

SQ representative was quoted as saying that they were looking at all other opportunities but would continue to work with the AN/NZ/SQ "your world" alliance (for now?).

Still leaves the problem of AN being owned by a commuications company who does not want them due to the massive dent they make in the balance sheet along with ANs deparate need for new equipment along with reduction in types.

The woes for AN continue? http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif
