This is the definitive Concorde report. Thank you! I actually flew Concorde in March '03 as well. Never got round to a trip report, but I may yet at some point. No pictures or models though.

WOW...I feel like I just flew Concorde and didn't even have to cough up subscriptions to magazines for points on Qantas that I then convert to Air Tanzania miles that roll over to Motel6 points that transfer at a 1:2 rate into BA. (Or whatever that deal was!)

This may be the Trip Report by which all other trip reports are measured...I bow and utter "I am not worthy" to ever post another trip report again.

Thank you for taking me along on your great supersonic adventure...amazing in scope, detailed to the nth degree, slightly sarcastic sense of humor which I just eat up...and the pictures where icing on the cake.

Well, done, thou good and faithful FTer.

A real treat for FT novices like me.

I must confess here that this report leaves me depressed and bit ashamed for my continued "coach class traveller" status (with perhaps only ambition of making it to upper deck one day).

Sadly, I may never be able to fly a concorde in my life time (nor does others) :-(

Great report! Enjoyed every word of it!

Excellent report, but I am puzzled how anybody could possibly call the atmosphere on the WAGN Cambridge Cruiser very refined.

You should try some decent trains, e.g. on the continent.

What a great write-up. Very passioned and accurate. I had the good fortune to be on BA001 late oct 2002 & BA002 early nov, and I basically I just relived my entire trip right here and now. A total flashback!

Also interesting to note that you obviously enjoyed the return trip on Concorde just as much - quite a few FT posters seems to advocate taking a regular first class subsonic on the return, apparently because of the increased comfort & service levels. Obviously this is completely wrong. As if sitting in an A340 is anything special. Yawn. Doing the rocket both ways across the pond really is (was) the only way to go...

It is a great report -- love the pictures and video.

It is a great way of remembering Concord, especially it has flown into history now.

Well, Charles MD, you just made me sorrier than ever that I didn't have the nerve to cash in our miles for the Concorde this summer. My husband would have done it, although he is a bit clausterphobic. To look on the bright side, think of all the free flights we still have left in WT! What a fabulous report! Thanks so much!!

My God, what a fantastic report !!!! The links alone must have taken forever to do ? Well done, CharlesMD, absolutely excellent. You have raised the bar for trip reporting for evermore.

I must say I was quiet surprised to see the pictures of you though, judging by your previous reports and comments regarding food and portion size I was expecting a very "big-boned" FT'er http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

That is one hell of a trip report that must have taken hours of hard graft, I never got to fly JFK-LHR on Concorde so it was a great read

Great trip report - it's like reliving my Concorde flight!! One question though -- why do you have a BA stripe across your face?

I must say, this was exactly the thing that I needed to read after last Friday. I had the opportunity to fly on Concorde in September, and this brought back all of my memories of my dream flight.

This truly is an absolutely amazing trip report!

I am deeply appreciative of the time and effort you took to do a superlative bit of writing.

I regret that I never had the opportunity to fly Concorde, and your report, which I am still digesting, has given me the ability to have the experience through your eyes.

Excellent report.

I think the saddest consequence of the end of Concorde service is going to be the end of all the wonderful Concorde trip reports both here and on airliners.net.

A most interesting report. The people watcher in me found he lenghty discussion of the type of people on the flight a delight to read. Another reason for me to regret not taking Concorde when I had the chance to do so.

Many great items for a trip report but the floor plans took it over the top.

I hope someone is tracking the 'best of' trip reports. This deserves top ranking!

Thank you for this beautiful effort. I enjoyed every moment of it.

In time, if / when I become old enough to confuse dreams with reality, I might believe that I did actually fly on the Concorde. How otherwise could I account for such vivid memories of the experience?

CharlesMD you really out-did yourself (and everyone else for that matter) with this trip report. Fantastic and the paradigm has been shifted up another notch!

The pure, simple irony with the guy sneering at you and later wanting to buy your model is up there with the classics of literature! I could not stop laughing...and then I would, but I'd think about it again and start laughing ..... That guy probably has enough money and is accustomed to getting anything he wants, but he'll never have your autographed model... Gotta love it!

The people types were written so well that pictures weren't necessary....very entertaining.

Glad you got to realize one of your childhood dreams.

Thanks for a superb multimedia experience. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Fab report - but one thing - it wasn't a elf in Amelie, it was a gnome. I travel with a small Teddy-Bear, who took offence. He has been around the world several times, and is friends with the gnome from Amelie -- they are a very special 'club'. I promised him I would take the correction forward. Bear has been on Concorde twice (before it was pre-cancellation-fashionable), as well as visits to hundreds of famous world monuments and hot-spots. His photos are on-line, if you know where to look!

Charles,

more praise on your excellent report. It makes me wonder whether it is still worth submitting a write-up of my own SSC experience, although yours was a 'regular' flight, while mine was the farewell flight to YYZ (read many first timers or last timers celebrating Concorde)

One small correction though, your captain's name is Les Brodie, the same one who flew us to YYZ.
