Outbound

Hello,
This will be my first tripreport ever. Comments –Yes please. My fiance and I had been planning this trip for a long time and we had some real good moments and some bad. I travel a lot within Sweden but had never done a trip in C on longer flights. Just like my brother, PappaG, I just love to fly. Actually we will fly to St Marteen on friday to do some serious planespotting.
CPH-SIN SQ B777 (jubilee)
The lounge in CPH is really nice, you can choose from various foods and drinks. My whole impression of the CPH airport is really good. I have seen airports in MEX, SJO, MIA, BUA, RIO, LHR, FRA, AMS etc and none can compare to CPH, well perhaps SIN.
I was so excited going in the plane. We were greeted and they took our coats. There were to hasty serving the drinks so I told them to wait. The seats were amazing, large, with a lot of legroom, row 4. Everything electronically controlled, nice I thought but how mistaken I was… Shortly after takeoff we were served chicken satay and after that a salad buffé. Unfortunately I cant remember our main course, but I was impressed with their service and the food quality. No plastic plates here! There was an abundance of coffé and Thé. I showed my father the wine list upon returning to Sweden and he sad that they were upper middleclass. Wines on SQ had higher quality than those of SK. (FYI: He is well respected regarding wines and is often invited to hotels/parties to talk about wine)
The inflight entertainment was excellent and we enjoyed many good movies with good quality headphones (with noise reduction). After having a nap my seat wouldn’t go back in to position. These seats were new and shall not be compared the old ones that we had on the SIN-BKK leg (747). So the steward asked me to change seat, so I did. Ofcourse I had to try if this seat worked, so I did. And to my surprise I hade to call the steward again since this seat also got jammed in bedposition. The next seat I was given I did not dare to try. So I asked the steward to try it and it got jammed aswell. Just amazing! Luckely our forth seat worked and the trip continued without any more problems. But I cant keep from thinking what they would have done if Business was full, and there is no First. I would surely ask for a refund.
Singapore Airport was really nice. We first tried the Star Alliance Gold lounge, nothing special. Many childrenfamilies travelling in economy but with Gold Card. So we went to the Business Class lounge, what a difference! The showers were well kept and the only place more that I have found showers of this class was at MEX (they even had a steamsauna). They even served Mövenpick icecream. On the downside was the computers with slow internet access.
SIN-BKK, SQ 747 Upper ”room”
The seats on this flight was not quite as good as the on our flight from CPH. Food was ok, service as well, but it could not compare to the CPH-SIN leg.
Bangkok-Koh Samui – Rayong, Bangkok Air ATR, Economy
Nothing special, at this time we were so tired and we would probably not have noticed if they would have put us on a bus J Ordinary food, no coffé or thé.
BKK-NRT, TG 747 (old version) “upper room”
We arrived in the dark green limo (MB500series) belonging to The Peninsula Hotel in Bangkok. The newspaper had been ironed so I could read it without getting dirty J
Check in was easy and the best part was that there is a special immigration line for those travelling In C or F.
The lounge was really bad, it compares to the one in Sao Paolo or Buenos Aires. Almost nothing to eat, bad computers, badly organised….
Business class on Thai was really a joke. I felt sorry for those continuing to LAX on this flight. The flight was almost 6 hours and the inflight entertainment was on one big bad screen. Everytime someone went to the bathroom they had to pas this screen. Food was ok but nothing special. What surprised med the most was the bad service, no one took ours coat, they forgot to ask about a welcomedrink and when the food came, it felt like I was back in Y.
NRT-CPH, SK, 340
Narita airport is nothing special, nor is the businessclass lounge. Small and not much to do, they did not have any computers.
Entering the 340 I felt home. There is a special smell on SK planes. We were greeted in a nice way and they took our coats. Welcomedrinks were served in PLASTIC glases. Food was really OK and I like their foodconcept with “easy food” compared to heavy steakes. But it could not compare to SQ. They had one good thing. Unlimited access to a small buffé with Espressomachine, chocolates, winegummi, nuts and fruits. Always well stocked. Inflight entertainment was ok with fixed starting times. (On SQ it is the customer who decides when the movie starts, video on demand).
So as an conclusion the whole trip was really enjoyable and it is going to be hard travelling in Y on KLM to SXM on friday. SQ is the grand winner with exceptional service, food, airportfacilities and entertainment.
I hope you enjoyed my report and I will give you a new one in 10 days from St Marteen.
