I was booked to fly from SNA to SFO on the 7:30 PM flight and onto Syd later that night.
I phoned in the 1K dest at 5:15 PM to see if SNA was delayed because of the fires. I was and he told me that I wouldn't make the connection. He then told me I had 45 minutes to make the 6:01 flight from SNA and that might be delayed also, so hurry he told me. He also said he could confirm a 1st class ticket to SFO (I had one to SFO orginally).
I made it to the airport in pleanty of time, unfortunately we sat on the ground from a little after 6PM to 8:00 pm.
In the end everything worked out made the flight and had a great flight to SYD.
