I flew flight 61 DFW-NRT on July 8th. Was in 3D. I love the seat as you are in the middle and no one ever steps over you. Personal storage in front of you with the coffin style seating. It is hard to believe that AA would have international first window seats with the need to step over your aisle mate in order to get out, if the foot rest is extended. So I take the middle of the cabin if possible. Crew rest is generally row 4 middle seats. There are three rows 2-4 in the cabin. Crew was okay, nothing really special. I was in the middle for meal selection. choices were salmon, chicken, beef, or Japanese meal. They were out of beef after the back row. They only loaded 3 beef meals for 17 full seats including the two crew rest. And with 16 middle aged men on the flight beef was the prime meal choice http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
I took the chicken and it was okay, AA does let you substitute difference veges with you choice so that does make it better. Entertainment was okay, but those older tapes players really don't make it. flight was a couple minutes early.
Went to AC and got in line for a shower room. Was called about 20 minutes later. Shower rooms are okay in NRT and cleaned up and got dressed. Then did the transfer over to Terminal 2 for my JL flight to BKK. Transfer took maybe 10-15 minutes including security. Tranfer desk gave me my JL boarding pass to replace the pass AA gave me and then directed me to the Sukura lounge. It was fairly full and was okay, didn't knock my socks off.
JL 707 (AA 7279 codeshare) was ontime and i moved seats to a middle J seats are 2X2X2 seating on this 747 config. The plane is only two class. In the nose it starts out 2X2 then expands to the 2X2X2 about half way back in the J cabin. Service and food was very good. Entertainment system was okay. Watched a movie, cant remember what it was. Arrive on time in BKK. We parked at a stand and were bused to customs. Longer ride than usual, maybe about 7-10 minutes. Got out and up the stairs to immigration, hint keep walking over until you find a short line for passport control. People tend to get in the first line they see so the first lines can be real long with nobody in line farther down. Went through passport control in a couple of minutes and waited for bags. Mine were maybe 6th or 7th off out. Grabbed them and went through customs green line in a minute don't think I even broke stride. Came out to a sign and limo driver.
Conclusion is that AA first is the best J product out there. The fare exBKK is real good and the upgrade is cheap in terms of miles. How anyone could pay F prices for this is beyond me. JL seating is a little cramped but fine for a 5-6 hour flight, service is very good.
