Trip Reports - Las Vegas Trip

We were in LV last weekend, from Wednesday through Saturday. It was pretty quiet in town the first couple of days. In fact, the only crowds we saw were in the M&M store! We got some very good deals, starting with airfare of $158 each r/t out of JFK. Stayed at Ballys for around $200 for 3 nights, including $50 in F&B credit and 2 for 1 tix to "Jubilee", which, by the way, was great! But probably the BEST bargain by far was the $1.99 hamburger/fries special at the Wild West Casino on Tropicana. A 1/2 lb. burger, charcoal broiled, topped w/lettuce, tomato, pickle & onion! A close second was the $7.99 T-bone dinner at the Gold Coast, including salad, onion rings, potatoes & a beer. This is the time to travel - we practically had the plane to ourselves!

Where are you staying ? I love Vegas - I've never tired of it although maybe my wallet has a couple of times!

Tips? Not very good at them but I will say :

Don't miss Downtown - too many friends have ignored it but it is a fantastic night out.

The Rick Thomas show at the Tropicana is an afternoon magic show - it is fantastic, and you're normally get 2 for 1 vouchers at the door of the Trop. It's very popular and well worth the $18 / $9(!) price. Tip the maitre'd $10 and he'll put you in a booth!

I don't know if you plan to rent a car. If you won't be leaving the city, it's not necessary. Check out the Hard Rock Hotel, it's not on the Strip, but there are shuttle buses back & forth. The Tropicana has a very cute live bird show (free!). We've seen all the "famous" shows - the best were "Jubilee" at Ballys & Lance Burton at the Monte Carlo. If you can get to the Liberace Museum, it's worth the trip; otherwise, don't miss the car show at the Imperial Palace and the old Vegas memorabilia museum in Tropicana. Join every club anywhere you gamble. You receive some great benefits by using the cards. Have a great time - we can't wait to go back again. We've probably been there 10 times!

Try this place, but make sure you dont take breakfast on the day you plan to visit.

I stayed at the Venetian and you can have some pretty nice food there to. This one below is well worth a visit if you like beef.

If you're tired of chain steak houses you've got to try Bob Taylor's Original Ranch House, located in the bustling Northwest.

The Rustic wood and stone is right out of the Old West, with wonderful cowboy Memorabilia adoring the walls and a classic roaring fireplace.


The Ranch Houses' crackling grill cooks up the finest in Black Angus steaks, chops and fresh fish.

And finish the giant "Jim Brady" cut of Prime Rib ... and dessert is on Bob Taylor's!!


Unwind in the Ranch House's rugged bar featuring hearty drinks and sports on the big screen TV.

Bob Taylor's Original Ranch House it's Las Vegas's oldest steak house and it must be tried!
