As part of my mileage run, this is my second part of my LAX-JNB run. I arrived at LHR on March 21 at 1:30PM ( See AA 136 report)
We arrived at terminal 3 from AA. I had to transfer to terminal 4 to get to BA . Realizing that I had a 5 hour layover was nice. No rushing to catch the terminal to terminal bus. Arrived at terminal 4 where there was no waiting at the transfer desk. Immediately I headed to the BA lounges opposite Gate 10 at LHR. There are three lounges to use. The Concorde lounge, where first class passengers can go, The First Lounge where first and business can go and the Terraces lounges where BA FF can also go. Please excuse me but I forgot where the BA FF can get lounge access under this somewhat confusing lounge plan.
I went to the Concorde lounge as I was on a RTW OWE ticket. WOW.... first of all I immediately was shown to the Molten Spa area where a shower was fabulous. Then I was told to go upstairs and "have a bite " to eat. There was a sit down area where our orders were taken from a vast menu of items including afternoon tea sandwiches, cesaer salad, thai shrimp salad, pastries, sandwiches as well as multiple varieties of fresh baguette sandwiches. Not to mention KRUG served non stop. Quite an experience. I figured if this was the lounge experience then the flight would be special.
As all of you FF know, 5 hours at LHR may sound like a lot to the "layperson", but you all know that there are a million things to do including shopping, internet e mails, eating, drinking, and dreaming of the flight. Even though I had just come in from LAX, I found myself rejuvenated, and could not wait until the next flight. Finally I walked on over to GATE 22 where my flight was to depart. There the 747-400 was. Beautiful as always. Interesting though that these planes never seem to fascinate me. The plane was packed to the gills. First had the new Connelly leather seats and looked brand new. Before reaching my seat of 1A I was offered cashews as well as anything I wanted to drink. Very nice. Pre departure drinks were in real glass as well. As I settled down in the sleeper seat, I was handed an amenity kit,( which I did not open as I give these kits to my two young daughters ), a pair of white knit socks, and eye shades. Already on the seat was a duvet, a blanket and a video preferance card. On BA First besides 18 channels of movies, there are 30 personal video selections. For this trip, I chose to watch In the Bedroom with Sissy Spacek, and California Suite with Bill Cosby MAggie Smith and Michael Caine. Great flick. In the Bedroom was very good but disturbing as well.
Next part will discuss menu and flight in detail.......

>>> ah hmmmmmmmmmm (clear throat) hmmmmmmm
should you come up with any extras, your nice, friendly neighbor in Malibu would be appreciative http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif))))

Hey, great report. They allowed me to walk around the "First" lounge, but I'd doubt that I could go to the Concorde lounge
(note jealousy pains in Malibu)... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
I shall read on, and with excitement...
Thank you!
