We had been in South America since 12/1 on a cruise from Rio. Flew down on AA, but that's another report.
DL 146 Biz Elite - SCL-ATL - Dec 20
Arrived at airport in Santiago at about 7:15 for 10:45 flight. Beware because Delta does not open counters until 8 p.m. Quite a bit of confusion in line as everyone was lineed up together and some late comers attempted to cut through to start a Biz Elite line. With that sorted out the check in began. Loud mouthed lady in front of us was pulled aside for bag inspection. Too bad. We were waived through. Check in was smooth, but a bit slow with the same stupid questions about who packed your bag and had anyone wanted you carry something aboard. We were given invitations to the Lan Chile club for the wait before departure. Nice club and good selection of beverages and food.
Biz Elite was boarded at 10:05. We were given time to settle in and offered pre-departure drinks by a most attentive staff. Meal orders were taken and refills were offered several times. Doors closed at 10:40 and to our pleasure there were only 12 people in all of Biz Elite. We all spread out and got comfortable. I must say that I really prefer the Delta seat over American. Sit more comfortably for me and I love the electric adjustments.
Take off was quick after a fairly long taxi.
Drinks were served along with nuts. Great seafood apetizers and a first rate fillet for dinner. Accompanied by asparagus and new potatos.. We were offered seconds on steak as the flight had been fully catered. Wonderfull ice cream sundae for dessert. Great coffee and attentive after dinner drink service as well.
Entertainment was ok and even managed a few hours sleep in that almost flat seat.
The only real stumble was breakfast. I should have had cereal. The omlette had seen better days. Oh well.
Into Atlanta on time. This airport need to invest in some moving walkways in Terminal E for the Customs area. Long delay in going through security again after rechecking bags. About 20 minutes in line.
DL 497 First Class - Dec. 21
Fairly new 737-800. Typical domestic first service. No complaints. Even had a video system so there was a movie and follow up video. Take off and landing all on time.
All in all a very good trip on Delta. A couple of small issues, but the it is not a perfect world.
