Hi guys,
After Christmas, I’m going to put up my entire collection of trip reports + photos on my website…. I haven't posted anything new for a while... firstly because I haven't really flown that much this quarter, but also the fact that it seems people aren't interested much in my trip reports anymore... I myself am starting to get a bit bored of writing them, firstly because as I went on, it seems that the enthusiasm has dropped a bit since the beginning. Also it's gets a little tedious and boring when the routes I take are pretty much the same all the time and the variations are small.... so I just wanted to gauge if the interest for my trip reports are still here or not...... and if there are enough people who are still interested in reading my long and repetitive F class reports, I'll keep on posting them up and putting them up on a website…. I will be starting my up my crazy trips again soon, beginning with the one tonight on BOS-IAD-LHR-NRT… so any feedback on what I should do would be appreciated.
Terence

Maybe a summary of exceptional service (bad as well as good), interesting observations/reports on anything/incidences, changes to level of service would be the best and most interesting.

Terence, I have enjoyed your fine trip reports since I joined FT. Thank you. If you are basically going to be flying the same routes in First, then what terenz suggests might be the best idea (highlights, changes in service levels, etc).

I love your reports. Seeing your photos has inspired me to take pictures of all the food when I fly. I think a lot of people read the reports and never write a comment.

My suggestion would be to formalise your reports with some sort of grading/ranking system. Maybe you could include some general info/helpful hints on each airline (i.e. which Book The Cook entrees are best on SQ, what are YOUR seat preferences...)

Let us know what the web address of your site is! Looking forward to many more reports!

I have thoroughly enjoyed all of your reports! Moreso than most posted here, your reporting style has allowed those of us who may fly predominantly in the back of the plane to experience the First Class experience, if only vicariously. Your reports have certainly inspired me to have a go at writing one myself.

I would be interested in your old style of report if it's aboard a new airline/route. In particular, I have always enjoyed the full menu transcripts you include. The only thing I can imagine gleaning from reading reviews of flights over routes or you've previously posted would be any differences noticed since 9/11.

Photo reports on the other hand, for me at least, never grow old. If you feel like writing them, I'll certainly take the time to read and enjoy them.

Thanks again for all of your past reports, Terence. I'll look forward to your next ones regardless of the style in which you choose to write them.

Hi tfung,

I was inspiried by your trip reports that I posted photos only in my last report. Even though I didn't get a ton of responses on FT, I saw that on the website there were over 600 hits (after 1 week). So I think there are a lot of people still interested in your trip reports. Btw, I was too embarrased to take photos of the food that was served so I applaud you for taking all those pictures!

I agree with what terenz said. I also feel the same way as you that your enthusiam has dropped a bit since the beginning. Once you start doing it all the time it isn't as exciting as it was in the beginning.

Although I don't post any comments, I always find it very fascinating to read your trip reports! It doesn't matter much to me if they tend to be the same. :-)

if you find the time, keep them comming. Ive read every single one and shared them with others. If you had not posted them, I wouldve never dared to take photos on my last trip in NG's Amadeus class. My report will follow (when I will have found time to finish it) and starts with the sentence "Inspired by tfung's reports ...."

I think there is great interest in your reports as you are quoted in a lot of airline boards.

I love your trip reports, tfung, and every time I open the Trip Reports forum I hope to see them. I rarely get to enjoy international premium class travel, so I truly enjoy your play-by-play trip reports. I would beg you to continue them, but if you don't have the time, at least share observations, comparasons between carriers, menus, etc. Also, the PHOTOS are fantastic, and those are just awesome. If nothing else, please keep snapping the photos!! I love seeing the food, and (more importantly for me) I like seeing the cabin interiors (seating layout, etc.). I think you'll find that even though few people take the time to say "thanks" on FlyerTalk, tons of people read them. bagold's evidence about the hits on his photo trip report website definitely supports this. Most people think that saying "thanks" in unnecessary and wastes server space, but they truly read and enjoy them. As for suggestions, I would just like to say that, in addition to food pics, I like the cabin overviews and seat closeups, as well as airport terminal and gate pics (sometimes the latter can be hard since they aren't as discreet). So I beg you, tfung! Continue your trip reports and keep taking those photos.

tfung,

I greatly enjoy your reports. I have searched the archive and read those reports which you posted prior to me finding this site. Your posts are among those which I NEVER read online - instead I print them out so I can savor them as I sit in my old leather chair with a nice beverage. Thank you for all your hard work, and I hope I will have the pleasure of reading your reports in the future.

Hi Tfung,

Your trip reports rock! Please keep on posting them and the differences you see between different airlines regarding food, service, and attitude.

I like your posting of the pictures: they give good light of what you see and experience during the trip.

Best,

Trip reports are never boring. Keep them coming.

I am one of those people who only posts trip reports on about 20% of my flying, but that's because it's mainly in coach, and because I am too lazy/busy to write.

Even if people don't reply to your posting, don't assume there is no interest.

Tfung,

Your Trip Reports are great stuff. Provides that much more incentive to snag a double-upgrade. Photos make it a great package too. Definitely keep them coming.

Terence,
I have read all your reports with great interest;I'm sure there are many others like myself who have not posted any replies...at this stage, I've only made it to J class, and your reports inspire me to travel up the front one day... whatever format you choose, I will still be a keen follower of your reports.
regards

tfung,

Your reports detail stuff that (my) dreams are made of. I read them with great fascination. It's just that, as someone who does not even frequent the business classes, I rarely have useful comments to offer and see little use in helping to clog up the forum with "Hi! Fantastic report. Bye!" posts.

Do keep them coming if you have the time.

i agree with all above posts. your reports are an absolute delight and pleasure to read - maybe a grading system would be a minor improvement.

Your reports are top notch! Great detail and great summary of the food/wine offerings. The photos just add to the quality.

Keep 'em coming... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

usually i am lazy to post "great report" replies. (i am just being environmental)

but i am among those who give you guys (& bagold's as well) "page hits" and enjoyed it.

as for suggestions, terence, i would enjoyed your anecdotes and destination photos such as what you did for the easter island hotel.
i usually skip things such as menu but i guess a lot of our friends here enjoy it.
another point is, perhaps a systematic photo library on the seats from the seats/classes/airlines (such as bagold's web site). (and tracing the evolution in the future?)

Thanks for all the replies. It really means a lot to me... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
Anyways, I think I'm going to go ahead with my idea of archiving all my trip reports on a website... And posting all my future reports there... I don't want to post it and then having it go into obvilion after a while... with a website, people can always research on it for their upcoming flight, etc.. it's a bit hard on the messageboard... Anyways, I have put up a test page of what I think the trip reports should look like in the future... please give me some comments on that.. what you like about it, what you don't... The temp address is here:
test page with recent trip report (http://hobbystage.net/bmwm5/tfung/1008768377-000609.html)

I'm also going to do a writeup of the different airline lounges, plus possibly writeups on airlines seats, etc... so hopefully the website that I would be putting up will be a good source for all things related to F class travel? I dunno yet, but at least that's what I aim to make.. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

tfung,

just saw your web-site test. Would be nice to have all your reprts in one place - and who knows what happens to flyertalk in the future - good to have a backup.

Just one thing: I know others print your reports and read them on paper, but when reading on screen the font you used is very tiring and the align=justify makes it even more dificult to read as browser dont break up words. How about Verdana and a narrower layout, that lines wont be so long on a big screen? Just a suggestion.

I loved all the reports, and your reports on your Oneworld Explorer trip was an invaluable resource for me when planning my own trip. I can imagine how time consuming they are as I recently copyed and pasted the OWE reports into a Word document and, at 12 point font single spaced, it came to 85 pages.

Like many before me I will echo the request to keep the trip reports coming - you fly at a level that, without a lottery win, I can only dream about. I still find their attention to detail fascinating and always look forward to reading the next one.

grrrr... it seems that you guys are only interested in trip reports with pictures... fact is, I can't even write trip reports for all of my flights, let alone taking pictures on every single one of them. My own digital camera is fairly large, it's a SLR digital, so I don't usually have it as a carry-on. Whenever I have pictures for the trip reports, it's the camera from someone else that I'm travelling with or that I have one borrowed from someone else. So please don't expect pictures on every single one of my trip reports.....
