I flew SEA-ORD on UA 09/22/01 on the 6:25 AM flight. I had called the Premier line, was told the flight(s) were going (I had a connection from ORD-MKE) and that the airport didn't open until 4:45 AM so I couldn't be there 2 hours ahead of time.
When I did arrive at the airport, it was the first time I was REALLY happy to be Premier. The regular coach check in line went all the way around the corner (at 5:15 AM!) towards the security check-in point. There were only five people in the Premier/Premier Exec line with two agents assisting. Check in was smooth, security was easier than before last week.
The flight was on-time with approximately 1/2 full load. The FA in first was wonderful! Pre-departure drinks, he came around and asked the paying passengers first what their meal choice was (quite a few non-rev FAs in F), refreshed drinks the entire time, and then near the end of the flight came by and said "I just wanted to thank you for your business and for flying United!" I was impressed and amazed. I thought that was really very nice.
Flight was smooth, linens and hot towels were available as well as a nice fruit plate. Plastic knives were on board the trip. All in all, a very pleasant experience.
