Trip Reports - NW AMS-JFK in WBC: meal service goof up!

Flight was sme 1/2 hr late due to last minute pax loading. Seems a lot of pax got lucky with upgrades (and not apparently by status).

Not a very interesting trip report except for the 2nd meal service. I was expecting it to start some 1 1/2 - 2 hrs prior to landing at JFK. They didn't get around to it (a 3 cheese flan and citrus plate) until the plane was over Long Island Sound between Cape Cod and Montauk Point! Needless to say it was very rushed as there was < 1/2 hr left in the flight at that point. Saw one of the FAs at the Howard Beach subway stop later and asked him. He said they misjudged?

On my most recent flight from CDG-JFK, the crew served the second meal about the same time (maybe a little earlier). It wasn't on the menu, and I just assumed we weren't getting it, but they pulled it off. As I said in my trip report, they shouldn't have bothered as it was pretty lousy.

I recently flew NW in First Class DTW-SJU and had the same thing happen.

We arrived 30 min. early so we didn't get our fresh baked cookies and fruit plate!

Breakfast was excellent, though, which was served about an hour into the flight and lasted about an hour and a half between Champagne pre-breakfast drink, breakfast, more Champagne...Very nice service.

We did get the cookies "to-go" since she didn't have time to serve them on board!
