Trip Reports - NEW ATH Airport

Has anyone traveled throught the new Athens airport recently? I'm going to ATH next week-- and have been trying to find a map of the airport layout, however I can't find one.
I know that last week there were heavy delays/ flight cax/ and chaos! But hopefully things have become better.

Also, does anyone know what the business class lounges are like? Does each airline maintain their own lounge or is there a "common lounge" as there was in the old international airport.

Thanks in advance for any information that you may have!

The reports I read in greek newspapers say that the situation has mostly normalized, with 85% of flights, as of last weekend, leaving on time. Probably still some inaugural problems, but nothing in the scale of the first few days.

You can get this information off the Olympic Airways website (of all places!!). They have a link at the top of the page to the new airport, and this contains basic info - including a couple of sentences to say that there are VIP lounges (plural) available.

You would think however that on the Olympic website or the new airport website that there would be a map of the layout-- ie where is Olympic's C class lounge, Delta's Business Elite Lounge, etc... instead, they just give a map of the airport buildings. CRAZY!!!

I flew into and out of the new airport with no problems last week. The taxi ride ito the city is long - so take plenty GRD10,000 in cash just to make sure. As for lounges... don't expect much, as only Olympic seemed to be open so far - and the seats inside were ordinary metal benches, not the usual armchairs etc yet. There is no oneworld lounge open yet, and there is very limited shopping/coffee bars beyond passport control. Recent comments from fellow travellers I have met are than it is a disapointing and spartan place.

Well a friend of mine just returned from ATH last night. According to him, the airport is beautiful, like a mall with shops like Hermes, Bulgari, lots of fast-food restaurants, a full service CD store, etc...

But listen to this one... he was traveling Business on DL to JFK. To his surprise, he goes and checks-in, and is given a pass to the what he was told was the Business Class lounge. He looks at the pass, and sees that the pass has "ACROPOLIS LOUNGE" crossed out in pen, and instead has over it written "THE MC Cafe" (MC like in MC Donalds)! Talk about getting VIP treatment!

Could DL not have arranged to use the B/C lounge of OA or Aegean? Some things just don't make sense to me...
