Sarecca, sorry about the delay. Internet access in Indonesia was slow, expensive, and hard to find in the areas I was in. Then all hell broke loose in Hong Kong, so I haven't really had time to reply. I was right, sort of. Got the idea right, but the name sort of wrong. Told you I didn't drink much champagne, or much at all, for that matter.

Champagne: Heidsieck Monopole Diamante Bleu, 1989 and Piper-Heidsieck Rare. '88, iirc.
White: Sancerre Megalith 1999, Domaine de la Perriere and Chablis Grand Cru Valmur, 1996, Jean-Marc Brocard.
Red: Chateau Durfort-Vivens, 1995 and Leasingham Classic Clare Cabernet Sauvignon, 1996.
Dessert: Miranda Golden Botrytis, 1995
Port: Warre's 1986, Reserve Tawny Port.
I tried the two reds, and liked the Durfort quite a bit. I don't like white (gives me a headache), so I didn't try them. I did try the Champagne (rare), and it was good. I also tried the port, because I never had it before. Didn't like it much.
Standout hard stuff:
Glenmorangie Port Wood Finish (good)
Johnnie Walker Blue (didn't try, but had the JW gold on a cx flight. Too strong for me)
Frapin Vip XO Cognac (good)
Lots of other more typical spirits
LON-BKK (* is by what I had. All were excellent)
Appetisers:
Scottish smoked salmon, warm herb blini, dill creme fraiche.
*Duck foie gras and black truffle terrine with ruby orange compote
Crab and sweetcorn soup
Mixed Salad
Main Courses
*Pan fried fillet steak with claret reduction and vegetables
Nage of shellfish with basil and classic Nantua sauce (don't know what nantua is)
Pan dan honey chicken with thai fragrant vegetables and jasmine rice
Aubergine and okra biryani with dal makhanwala and corriander naan
Lighter Options
Potato and pecorino (lighter?!?!?) cheese tart with rocket salad
Pasta with mushroom or tomato sauce
Dessert
Hot Gooseberry crumble with vanilla custard
Bitter chocolate tart with jasmine tea ice cream (almost tried, but was full. wish I asked just to try the ice cream)
Fresh Fruit
Cheeseboard
*Fountain Gold, Shropshire Blue, Henry IV, Fourme d'Ambert, and Melusin goat cheese (I like cheese, and had them all)
Breakfast
Juice and energy drinks
Fruit
*Porridge
English Breakfast
Smoked haddock kedgeree
Oat bran pancakes with honey and fig syrup
BKK-SYD
Appetisers
*Prawns with mango and herb lime mayo (incredible)
Spinich and mushroom samosa with cucumber raita (?)
Tom Kha Gai, Coconut chicken soup
Salad
Main Course
Grilled Veal and mushroom sauce
*King Prawns in coconut sauce and steamed rice (absolutely incredible)
Stir fried chicken with ginger and sesame seeds
Eggplant with mushrooms, mozzarella, and parmesan cheese
Lighter
Hoisen duck pancake wrap with cucumber and spring onion
Finger sandwiches
Pasta with tuna tomato or salsa verde
Dessert
Mango sorbet with berry coulis
Warm chocolate bread and butter pudding with chocolate custard
Same cheese as above, with one or two added.
I was stuffed, so I didn't have dessert or cheese. Overall, the food was much better on the second trip. But good on both. In retrospect, I would have had the chicken on the first trip. Since then, I have learned that steak on a plane is a bad idea. Stupid me tried it on one of the cx flights, and it wasn't too good there either. You live, you learn.
Sorry about length, and as I said, sorry about the delay. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
