Trip Reports - Around the world ticket

Hi folks,

haven't really posted here before but I'm hoping you can help me.

I'm looking to purchase and around the world ticket though the selling price in the US/ Canada is US$4000 +.. A friend just visited me from Aussie land and purchased his for US$1500 (!!) down there. I'm wondering if any of you know the prices or can tell me where to research regarding this ticket.

ANY Advice is appreciated.
Please consider that I live in Toronto and would start my journey here.

I suggest you visit the oneworld and STAR alliance forums where most of the discussion revolves around such tickets and travels. You will find a link to a very useful comparison chart prepared by a fellow FlyerTalker from Toronto. She has compiled an excellent reference, though it may be discouraging to see some of the cheaper originating points. That said, Canada is still a cheaper starting point than the U.S. in most cases. Australia and New Zealand have always been less expensive places to start these trips from because there has been a tradition of giving graduating high schoolers a ticket to see the world before they come back for college or the work world. It is sort of a right of passage downunder.
