Need to go again from SLC to southern CT since apartment hunting didn't pan out last week. Previous trips were arranged by paid for by future company so I couldn't choose airline nor airport(PVD preferred over BDL due to closeness). Now, I want to leave SLC on Wed. 4/11 and preferably return Sat. 4/14, but usually Saturday nights required for lower fares. Checked around and seems punching in wed-sun. lowest fares to either airport would be TWA around 350+taxes, then other airlines around 400+ and up. Wed-Sat looked liked 450+ and up for both places. But from travelocity's dreammap and AA's website I can get AA (SLC-BOS) from Wed-Sat for $239.50 after taxes added in. Great price for no Saturday stayover IMHO.

DO YOU THINK IT IS WORTH THE EXTRA HOUR DRIVE EACH WAY? HOW MUCH DIFFERENCE IN RENTAL CAR PRICES FROM BOS VS. BDL VS. PVD.?

Now, I don't fly much only 7k on DL and 2k on UA this year so far and have never had any elite status. Was hoping to book this flight on DL but I can't justify spending double the money just to book on DL (until I graduate).

Thanks in advance.

Just a thought... If you don't care too much about FF miles (since you don't fly alot) try Hotwire or Priceline. I just booked a priceline ticket for a long weekend skiing in April (Wash, DC to Denver roundtrip) for $100! You may be able to get something similar out of SLC. Worth a shot. And with Hotwire (www.hotwire.com), you can see the price of the ticket before you buy. At least it can help you comparison shop. You can also try www.qixo.com (http://www.qixo.com) and it will give you a pretty good list of fares (including Hotwire fares).

Good luck.

AS you know, PVD is 45 minutes to 3 hours South of BOS (depending on traffic). If possible, I prefer flying into PVD, but I usually find the best fares going in/out of BDL for the stuff I do.

With respect to your question, my personal experience with rental cars is usually on the weekends, so the rate structure is going to be different. However, the taxes in BOS are amazing, so amazing that it is often equivalent to adding another day's rent,

Considering the difference in airfare (about $180 this morning), you might choose BOS. Expedia shows rentals in BOS for your timeframe of as low as $27/day (Dollar). The rates at PVD was the same and BDL started at $32/day.

Looks like your cheapest option is BOS on AA.
