Hi all,

I've been very lazy. I flew DL BizElite some three weeks ago, yet I haven't posted the trip report yet. It is half-completed, saved on my hard drive.

I'm posting this message in hopes to encourage me to get it done sooner.

We booked a vacation trip to Santiago, Chile in October on Continental BusinessFirst reward tickets, and since Continental will discontinue service to Chile at the end of October we were booked in BusinessElite on Delta for the return in November.

It will be interesting to compare the competeing services.

I just flew DL BE from LAX-JFK last week. I liked it better than UA C Class, but that's probably not a totally fair comparison.

Too busy to do a Trip Report, but I will soon.

Old Gold: How about a way-south-of-the-border FT get together in SCL? I'm not travelling much (not at all, actually http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif ), so I should be around. Let me know...

Hey Jim_B, a S.T.I.F.F.S.* meeting in SCL sounds like a great idea! We'll be arriving around noon on Oct. 27, and departing Nov. 8 at around 10 pm. We are renting a car and driving South to the Lake District

old gold,
i read your remark about comparing the two business classes services. i am in the same boat-late october departure to santiago, then return via a different route. the two choices i thought i had were flying from brazil on a wide body or copa to panama city. i chose a one night stayover in panama city, but still don't look forward to 6 1/2 hours in a 37.
Is returning on another carrier's business class service an alternative?
thanks for the info

luckypierre:

Once a reward ticket is issued you are protected by the provisions in the contract of carriage, which has provisions for when all service is cancelled to/from your destination. The rule 240 provisions also apply to reward tickets, and supercede the CO/COEX only restriction.

The CO and partner restriction only applies for the issue of the original ticket.
Of course they want you to fly on COPA, since they own a share of the airline.

I told them no way when they wanted to put me on that 4:00 am 737 flight, and requested that they send me a copy of the current International Contract of Carriage.

You know, they never did send me the C of C, but I did get on the Delta flight to Atlanta. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

oldgolds,
thanks for the advice. unfortunately, this is a rescheduled trip from may, so it may be a special case, since they had already announced termination of santiago service when I rescheduled the trip. From your remarks, I gather it is easier to cite the carriage regulations when given the choice in initial planning.
It would have been interesting to evaluate the two premium classes on one trip.
leave on the 21st and spend most of the time divided between the lake country and 3-4 days in BA
