Was DTW-LAX on NW 757. We were delayed 2+ hours for a "cleanup" of a "liquid." After takeoff (and supposed cleanup) we found out what happened as a slow trickle of that lovely green/blue fluid came out of the lavatory onto the carpet near the rear of the aircraft.

The shoes and some clothes of those of us in the row immediately behind the lav (where I was sitting) turned that shade of blue as the FA worked with blankets to seal off the flow. The crew considered landing at MSP or MKE but continued (thankfully for those of us with already tight connections) to LAX.

Upon arrival, the gate agent handed out "our apologies" booklets with complimentary discounts, 500 WP miles, and a travel discount on future flights. Additionally, those of us in the row behind the lav are getting some additional compensation for the situation. What that is, I don't know yet since I had to get to the Internatinal terminal in a hurry.

Strange, though. When we got to LAX and they started to dump the fluid, it back up and came just gushing out of the lav onto the floor.

Are you sure they cleaned it up, or were they just 'going through the motions'!
