Check-in and boarding was fast and easy. Business class passengers were offered mimosas upon boarding. An amenity kit (basic toiletries, socks, and eyeshades) was also provided which doubles as a CD case. The flight departed on time.

DL uses a 737-800 with a 2-2 configuration (4 rows). The seat pitch of approximately 36 inches is similar to DL's domestic first class cabin. The cabin was clean and in good repair. The seats were comfortable with adjustable headrests and footrests. The lavatory did not have extra amenities, just a bottle of hand soap.

Food menus (in English and Spanish) and the Vinum wine menu were handed out. The appetizer, goat cheese crostini with fig chutney, was good. The dinner selections were grilled marinated beef, pecan-crusted sea bass, and vegetarian pasta. I chose the pasta, which was fairly good. Desert consisted of vanilla ice cream sundae with chocolate syrup, whipped cream, chopped nuts, and garnished with a pirouline cookie. The flight attendants were attentive but not very friendly.

The selection of audio entertainment was good. The quality of the video and audio were also good. The "King and I" was shown after dinner. Drinks were offered as we approached Caracas. We arrived 20 minutes ahead of schedule.

Overall, the flight was a pleasant travel experience. However, there are certain areas DL can certainly improve on. The safety video should be translated in Spanish. DL needs to recognize its Spanish-speaking customers. It would also be ideal to offer a local dish as one of the meal choices. B+

Are the 737-800's different on these flights than the domestic ones?

My guess is DL uses the same 737-800s for both domestic and international runs.

I have taken the GUA and CCS(one of those routes ran the 738....I can't remember which) a few times before and I just took a 738 the other day to MSY. Everything was the same on all of the flights...seat wise that is. Recline just isn't that great. They were very comfortable otherwise.

Nice to hear that DL has footrests in their 737-800s, but they should increase the pitch to a minimum of 40".

AA does quite well in recognizing it's Spanish speaking flyers. In fact, all domestic safety videos are in both English and Spanish.

Thanks for the report. I haven't taken DL in that direction yet, so it was nice to hear about it.

Is DL refering to these flights as "business class" or as "business elite"?
