DFW-MSP-SEA-DTW-DFW
Here goes another trip report.
DFW-MSP NW 406 DC-9-30 11 FEB
The flight left on-time and arrived a few minutes early. Crew was friendly enough but the snack service was inediable. There were two choices of sandwiches (turkey or corned beef). I chose the beef and only ate the potato chips. Is there some reason why they pre-apply mayonnaise on the sandwich. Not only do many people hate mayonnaise, including me, but isn't it also a health risk (spoilage)? What's wrong with giving a little package of condiments instead. Other than that the flight was fine. I checked out the large Worldclub at MSP and was very impressed. Wide variety of drinks/snacks and even a soft serve frozen yogurt of some weird type. However it wasn't bad. I'm going to miss having access to Worldclubs and President Clubs after my two month trial membership is over. This was a much better place than the smaller club I went to last time I was in MSP.
MSP-SEA NW 45 DC-10 11 FEB
Flight again left on-time but we ended up about twenty minutes late in Seattle (Jet stream and long wait to take-off at MSP). It was good to be on a DC-10 again for the first time in about a year. Pretty soon they will all be out of service and it reminds me of my youth. Also, I love all of the space. On this flight I got to experience my first "hot" Northwest meal. Choices were some type of chicken and a pasta dish. I chose the pasta and although it was very bland, I'm just happy to get a somewhat real meal on a domestic flight. Call me weird, but I kind of like airline food. Soon I will make elite on Onepass and should be able to sample the joy of first class instead of coach.
I spent the weekend in Seattle just to get out of Texas for a break. I have always wanted to visit the Northwest and was not disappointed. If you want the hotel review, it is posted on the Hyatt board. The highlight of the trip was my pilgrimage to the Museum of Flight. Next time, I will try to visit Seattle of a weekday so I can go on the Boeing tour.
SEA-DTW NW 50 DC-10 13 FEB
I got to SEA-TAC early to try the Worldclub. Small but not too bad. I did have an unusual time trying to check-in for my flight at the club. I give my e-ticket and ID to the clerk and she asks me the usual safety questions and what my final destination is. I say DFW and she then spends a little time with the computer and then she says she needs to check with someone about something. I go sit back down and she comes up to me about ten minutes later saying I didn't need a coupon to upgrade (???) and gave me two boarding passes in first class! As I look them over in a state of shock I notice that they were for someone else with my same last name. She checked me in as someone else!!! Although I wish I could keep the seat I really did not want to end up in Lexington so I had her check me in for real. So close yet so far away. The flight again left on time but we had to hold for about ten minutes due to an ATC hold on flights to Detroit. However we made up time and arrived a few minutes early in DTW but the snowstorm we were in made the trip to the terminal very long.
DTW-DFW NW 699 DC-9-30 13 FEB
I spent most of the hour layover in the larger of the Worldclubs in DTW. I was amazed that my flight to Dallas was actually on-time. After waiting for de-icing, we arrived about thirty minutes late in DFW on a very lightly loaded plane. There were probably only thirty or so people on the flight. All in all, the flights were fine and I had a great time in a city I have never been in before.
