I don't know why I don't post trip reports; I think it's because I don't rate up there with QL and Catman. They make everything feel and taste soooooo good. Exciting, yeah.
So, I figure...type, don't look back, send!
I guess I don't have cute pictures of Hunnybear to post either.

I know there are a lot of lurkers on the FT board, that actually NEVER post because I've had a few email me personally to ask me about Oregon. And if they learn as much as I do checking out FT, "It's a good thing."

Started driving to PDX around 4 am from Eugene, my flight departing at 6:55 am NWA 372 coach 9C Feb 8, Tuesday. Park near shelter 12 blue economy lot as usual, and it's raining cats and dogs. Construction hasn't slowed down traffic, at least not when I've been at the airport. I head straight for the gate, and get my boarding pass. They don't have the machines for electronically checking in at PDX, so I never get the 1000 miles bonus. This trip I have an e-ticket for NW, which is rare for me, because a paper ticket is always issued if you have a connecting flight flown by Horizon/Alaska. No codeshares today. I miss not having a WorldClub or President's Club in Portland also. Flight is on time, breakfast is served, and the plane is probably 85% full.

Arrival in MSP is 15 minutes early, I visit my first WorldClub in MSP. I have heard they are more spacious. The first thing I notice is a LOT more cubbyholes with phone access, a smoking room, and 5 clerks to help with reservations, etc. in addition to the two receptionists at each entrance. What did I expect at a major hub? The WC in Honolulu doesn't even have a restroom. I saw two computers, but no one at them. Not sure if they had internet access. Only food available was rice krispies bars, cookies, self-serve hard stuff alcohol, beer, wine, bottled water, fake beer, cappacino machine, and a yogurt machine. Wow, Prez Clubs have spoiled me, where are the pineapple upside-down poundcakes, butterfly crackers, sharp cheddar slices, and champagne? And the magazine selection is terrific at the IAH PC's! I wonder what RCC's are like?

MSP-TPA seat 18E, 757...we are packed like sardines. Not one seat empty. The aisle seat next to me WAS until a very tall older man sat in it at the last minute. I always wish for a shorter 30-50's male type for row partners. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif I hate to see tall people crammed in, I wish I could give them my excess leg room. Lunch was served. I am going to stop requesting low sodium meals. They are trying to make a vegetarian out of me (no offense, PUNKI, we have plenty of vegetarians in Eugene). I need PROTEIN for my blood sugar, and they used to have good LSML, but now the main entree is psuedo exotic! This is on UA, NW, and CO. Red grapes with seeds, rycrisp, and country crock spread is always the standard. Today's entree: white rice with coconut flakes (YUCK! no chinese person in their right mind would eat this), a ramekin filled with some chunky sauce (very salty and unrecognizable), and vegetable blocks cooked in similar sauce. If I can't tell what it is, I won't eat it. They were yellow.
So, I whip out the emergency rations (small tin of albacore tuna - no, it doesn't smell up the cabin - I ask.), banana from breakfast, and a rice krispy bar (which stuck to the napkin I wrapped it in). Flight pretty uneventful, FA's are more mature and give good service, landing very smooth.

BTW, this is my second trip as NW silver elite, and I really like preboarding.

NEXT, 36 hours in Tampa...

Ling: Geez, if you were going to spend 36 hours in Tampa you could have joined the rest of us... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Very nice trip report. I've just missed you twice now and this has got to stop! By the way I'm 40 and 5' 9-1/2" so I'd be your ideal seat opponent.

Looking forward to the rest of your report!
