Don't know if we're the first ones here, but here's a brief 'starter' report...

PDX-SLC-HNL 3 Nov.

6:00am flight to SLC on 757 (I've taken this flight about 14-15 times in tne last year), it continues on to BOS. Normally this flight is packed on Mon & Tues, but today it was a light load. FC was not even full and only 1 non-rev that I could see on the manifest, with about 70% in back. We were in 3A&B.

On time departure, smooth flight, beautiful morning flying over the mountains. Service was great, full breakfast (choice of frittata or fruit/cereal) on this 1:20 flight. Arrived 5 minutes early & we headed to the CRC to kill almost 3 hours. Seems crazy to go East to catch a flight back to HNL, but's that's the only way we could make the schedule work.

Flight for HNL on a L1011-500, departed at 11:45am. Load was 24 FC & 144 in back on this leg to LAX, then 24 FC & 217 in back on LAX-HNL leg. Flight time from LAX-HNL was 5:18…for the first 1˝ hrs. we had a steady 25-35 mph tail wind, which I thought was unusual since we were flying WSW (maybe some of you aeronautical types understand that part). Cruise at 33K ft. at about 550 mph ground speed. Flight was excellent, service and food was terrific. The FA crew were seasoned veterans who fly this flight regularly (it makes one more stop in Maui after HNL). We were in seats 2C&D. Arrived at 6:00pm (on time), picked up a car & checked into the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

We're hoping to meet TropicalFlyer for dinner tonight, then go to the airport to meet the PIP Express when it arrives. We will have cameras at the ready position…

More to follow, I'm sure….LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!

Two things I forgot to mention...

On the LAX-HNL leg, they served 2 different Merlot's. The first, Haywood '97 (Calif) was horrible...everyone said it was bad. Don't know if it was a bad bottle or a bad vintage, but it was terrible. Replaced with the Bodega Norton, which was just fine.

On the way to the Hilton, we passed the Xerox Tech. Center on Adm. Nimitz Highway where the shootings took place a few days ago. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Thanks for the nice early report. Sounds like it must have been "off" as you say shadow. Maybe a bad cork or storage or both!Haywood makes a pretty decent Merlot, though I'm not very familiar with the '97. Recently had the last of my '86 Haywood Cab Sauv's, which was excellent for the $15-20. range wines, IMHO. Enjoy your stay!

Nice report Shadow! I'm so jealous of you guys! Please keep those reports coming, and don't forget those photos so I can at least enjoy the PIP during my PIK (panic in Korea).

I'm glad to learn you guys are enjoying HNL. How is the weather? It's a crisp fall morning in BOS. By the way, in several of these trip reports, people have gotten specific details about how many elite flyers on the plane, how many non-revs, etc. Do you just ask the flight attendant to look at the paperwork? Do they generally just let you see it, or do they ask why you want that information?

Aloha from PIP.

More exhasution than party last night at the informal get-together at the HHV. A few drinks, some chatting...but it was obvious everyone was tired.

So far, it seems only CATMAN had his reservation messed-up at the Hilton. Everybody else was OK.

More later. I'll post some pictures of today as well....
