Took CP 514 from SFO to YVR. Plane was a 737 with a beautifully styled blue cloth seat. AA should be ashamed of themselves for their short haul services. The momnet that I stepped aboard, the purser greeted me with a hello and showed me to seat 3C. Pre departure drinks included a choice of cranberry juice and water. This was a VERY short flight of 98 minutes. However, in that time, dinner was served in C class. This consisted of a small salad with vinagerette dressing, breast of chicken with curried roasted potatoes and string beans. Multi grain rolls were served. Desert was Linders chocolates. Wines were excellent. I imbibed in two glasses of the French Bordeaux. Wonderful service for a short haul flight. Incidentally, seats had foot rests AND leg extenders in C class. Did not have time to scout out Y class. Arrived in YVR at which time I headed up to the departure area of YVR and walked right up the escalator to the Fairmont Airport Vancouver. Beautiful hotel. Rainy night, but you could see how great the airplane viewing would be on a nice clear day. Rooms are quite large. Jetstream Bar has some wonderful vegetarian chili. Health club, although on the first floor, has terrific equipment. Sauna is also good. Well, no to New York on CX888. Will report back soon. I also hope that CX will credit my correct FF account for my 100K bonus.

Great report! I flew CP last summer from LA to Vancouver on C class of the Boeing 737s. I had similar lunch that time. However, UA seems to serve a more well-drawn lunch.

For Y class, CP used to serve break, lunch and dinner at appropriate time. It has recently adopted the more AA service style. Y class passengers get snack on all lunch, dinner flights now, when they fly from YVR to SFO/LAX. For non-meal hours, I guess the Y class passengers get a light lunch or cold snack from LAX, and no meal from SFO. Although the competition in the West Coast-Vancouver corridor has reduced to little, only Canada 3000 flew from LAX, and AC from SFO, and the price of ticket has been quite high. I really don't see a resonable explanation to cut back on food. Maybe CP needs to match its service with AS -- the more simple hot sandwich service. (reminder: Alaska and CP are partners now)

Anyway, look forward to read your CX report! I remember the CX lounge at YVR is quite nice. You get a nice view of the international section of the apron. There is good dim sum and sandwich (sometimes, sushi...). The staffs are very nice...

have a safe trip!

AS only serves snacks on the flights from SFO-YVR (except for one breakfast flight), but they serve a full meal on all flights/both classes from LAX-YVR. The snack service on AS during the evening is quite similar to their lunch service.

There is less of a difference of service between SFO and LAX-YVR runs on Canadian.
