Hertz - Anyone rent an Infiniti G35 yet?

I was renting a Volvo XC a few weeks ago at PBI on the $58 deal and saw that there were a few G35s dotted around the lot. Thinking they were probably a costly upgrade from a YG I asked one of the guys taking the returns what class they were. In fact the G35 IS a YG.
I reserved a Premium for PBI this week and swapped my Grand Marquee for a G35 when I got there. With the FRDM RQ and AAA CP it comes out to $35/day. Lovely car for the money.
Do any other Hertz locations have these?

Well I will be sure to ask when I rent from SEA.
I like the Avalon as my YG, but I'd love a G35.
Can somebody help out the "Hertz Newbie" http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif and let me know what YG is ? Fullsize ? Premium ?
Thanks
J

A Yx designation denotes it as a "Specialty" vehicle. So a YG is a "specialty premium" - usually a Toyota Avalon XLS.
Normally, there is an additional charge for this class of car over the basic rate, but sometimes you get them cause that is all they have, and in the case of the Avalons at SEA, I just call and ask for it and they give it to me for no extra charge.
I have also received a "YF" Ford Taurus SES with leather seating and a sunroof.

Wow- how are you getting that rate? AAA gives you that much of a discount?!? With my companies negotiated rate I'm still paying around $36 for a Intermediate (which always gets me a Taurus)

It's the FRDM RQ that does it. The AAA discount is only 10%. I'm not sure why it is so cheap, but it's a great deal. I think I'll extend this rental through the end of my contract here and just put the car in the parking lot at the weekends.
And I forgot to mention, the G35 comes with Sirius Satelite Radio included too.

Well, I don't know if I'd call $58 a GREAT deal, but if it's midweek and you're paying almost that much for a Yugo, I'll go for it. Problem is they don't lower it on weekends. Now a GREAT deal is booking a mid-size at LAS for $16.99/day with a 20% discount and free weekend day...and being upgraded to a Volvo S80. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I agree, but the $35 that I'm paying for the Infiniti is.
I rented a compact at YVR for $17.99 Cdn a day....since they had no cars and I declined a Yukon...I ended up with a brand new Lincoln LS with 3 km on it. That was a great deal !
Are we talking G35 coupe or sedan ? Anybody see any at SFO ? If so, I'm changing my reservation from convertible to premium !!!

Is the PBI lot a franchisee I wonder? The reason I ask is the only time I've seen an Infiniti (and I actually got it) on a Hertz lot was at PBI also. About three years ago I rented an SUV at PBI and when I arrived they had assigned me an Infiniti QX4, which was definitely a step-up from the usual Explorer.

I saw the Infiniti G35 at the Hertz in FLL as well - just down the road from PBI (I think that is Palm Beach right?) Asked a passing rep as I walked to my 58.99 S80 and she said they were all reserved (although the 2 were sitting on the concrete display pad - not in the lots but ??)
This was Nov 17-21.

I got one on a free rental in Orlando at the end of October.
I got one at MIA a couple of weeks ago. It was a nice, fun car to drive. A little bit of a rocket too; it really accelerated when asked.
The G35 was the sedan (4 door) with leather interior.

PBI is corporate owned not franchise. Hertz has been trying to expand their fleet. Even though they are owned by Ford doesnt mean that they cant pull in some great vehicles. Next year they should be getting in even more types of higher class vehicles. It should be an exciting year for them.

I am renting a G35 sedan this week in SEA. I have the car for $51.45 per day ($12.00/day ug charge). This is a very very good car. RD likes it a lot!
One showed up at LGA's doorstep and I snagged it. Supposed to be heading back to Chicago though once I'm done with it this week.
Better do well in the snow...

Had anyone actually made a note in their premium res. requesting the G35 and then got one or has it been just dumb luck for everyone.

You can't specify a particular vehicle in your profile AFAIK. You can only have preferences for types of cars. e.g. - 'No Fords' or 'No American Cars' or 'Prefers foreign cars'
My advices is to have a look around the lot when you are coming in.
Also, if you specify exactly the type of car you want (such as the G35) they will likely try and hit you with the upgrade fee. If you just ask for 'something else that's not american' they will give you a YG without too much fuss.

I recently got a G35 at MIA. Had reservation for a Fullsize and a upgrade coupon. When getting to the lot (#1 Gold thingie), I saw a Grand Prix... Needless to say I asked the attendant whether an upgrade had been given to me, she checked and said she could give me a Grand Marquise. Told her that I'm by myself and it's too big for me, and that I would prefer something non-american. And boom, I got the Infiniti. I absolutely loved the car, it's probably the best rental car I've ever had. And all that for a weekly rate of $286 all incl. !
