I am a long loyal Hertz user and have enjoyed their services. I have been somewhat upset of late with their prices being so high (as compared to other vendors).

Now, I travel to Canada frequently and am disturbed-** with their latest offer:

"Hertz Prestige Collection starting at $65 a day. Get more luxury for less when you rent select vehicles from the Prestige Collection starting at $65 USD a day and $54 CND a day in Canada."

So, given an exchange rate hovering around 80 cents on the dollar, the actual cost of Candanian Hertz Prestige is about $43 USD. As contrasted to $65 USD in the states. 22$ a day is quite a difference.

Why?

**- "disturbed" when I rent in the US, and very happy when I rent in Canada!!

Is Canada a new Prestige Collection market? They might want to try and pimp the cars with better rates.

Back when they had the $58 a day special here in the US, I rented Prestige exlusively cause a Lincoln LS was only a few bucks more than a Ford Crown Vic and a lot less than a Town Car.

I'm sure they are trying to promote the cars at their Canadian locations. Even $65/day for a Prestige car isn't too bad (although I wouldn't pay it out of my pocket unless I was *really* getting something unusual).

Until recently the prestige rate at YYZ was $85 CDN a day, only 200 km's I believe. There were always loads of cars sitting there, maybe they are not being received as well as they should be. I have been upgraded to a Jag in the past, so the availability certainly worked to my benefit http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
