I misplaced 2 certificates for 1 free day rental each. Before I call Hertz and say I am an idiot, is there a chance they can send the certs to me again?
Would they know the certificate numbers so they can cancel the lost certs and resend me new ones?
TIA,

You appear to be out of luck. While the front of the cert does have your # on it, the T&C's on the back state Certificates will not be replaced if... lost....
Sorry bud.

I think that it might be worth the phone call...
The certificates really aren't valuable to anyone other than the earner. The only ID on them is your Gold number. So any reservation using a certificate must be made through your account (and name). There is no tracking number of any kind on the certificate. It would appear that the cert simply ties your rental to your account. The database is keeping track of awards and usage. Hertz knows that you haven't used your certificates.
Consider...if you made a (full color) copy of a friend's certificate replacing the other party's Gold number with yours. Would Hertz know the difference? I don't think so. (As long as your Gold account has the rewards when it comes time to process the rental.) So why wouldn't they replace a missing cert? (Because it is a hassle.)
Of course, Hertz can hold you to the rules, but I think that it would be worth asking.
