How many people would consider doing this to ensure they maintain PC status. I had a similar situation with UAL in 1999 regarding qualifying segments for 1K status. After my scheduled travel was supposed to be over for the year, I was going to fall short 100 segments by 1 and was told by UA that I would not be comped 1K status for 2000. I ended up flying several more segments to ensure 1K status and have made sure that I pad a few segments at the beginning of the year to ensure 1K status for the following year. Last year, I ended up with 38 rentals and over 120 rental days and was initially told that I would not be PC. I called Hertz PC CS and was told that I would be offered PC for this year.

To get back to my question. Would anyone consider renting a car for multiple 1 day rentals in a week instead of 1 weekly rental. I have rented a new car each day this week to get my totals up so I will always surpass 40 rentals annually.

I do break up my longer rentals into shorter ones just to make PC. Hertz is a stickler about this.

The way I get around this also is I rent from a local edition, drive it to the airport, go on my trip, get a car from the airport and drive it to the local edition.

I get at least three rentals per week doing this. If I have multipule cities to visit, then the numbers go up.

It's a lot better than driving your own car, paying for parking or taking a shuttle.

If you like what PC has to offer, makes sense to make the effort to keep it. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I am using NCRBill's strategy this year rather than taking cabs to and from the airport, all in order to make PC. And, in Chicago at least, it's generally as cheap or cheaper than getting a cab from my southern location to O'Hare.

I don't see much difference between PC and 5* service. So 5* does me, however many rentals I'm short of obtaining PC. Airline status is a different issue, I'd try NOT to lose top-tier on any of my programs.

I did a rental run in late December 2000 to hit PC the first year I knew about it. It was worth it in terms of the freebies Hertz sent me over the next 2 years.

They finally knocked me down to 5*, which still isn't bad.
