Thank you UpgradeMe. Unfortunately your hertz site search was exactly as useless and futile as my own.

If you look closely, you will see the words "or similar" in the car description, and if you read some of the posts here you will find a bunch of cars/vehicle types mentioned that are NOT listed by Hertz.

Therefore, my apologies, I had hoped my original question was clear enough " What cars have my fellow FT'ers received ". I was well aware of what the definition is according to the Hertz website.

I always rent Premium, Luxury, or Prestige.

Premium has been either the Ford Crown Victoria or Mercury Grand Marquis. They have leather and a CD player.

The "Specialty Premium" (YG) at SEA is a Toyota Avalon XLS. This is very nice as it has leather, six disc changer, and sunroof. The Infiniti G35 is now available as a YG car in at least PBI, based on another thread.

Full size is a Taurus SES. The YF is a Taurus SES with leather and a sunroof (BUF) or the Nissan Maxima SE (2003) which does not have leather, but does have the sunroof (SEA).

Actually, it's at PBI

95% of the time I get a Ford Taurus as a Full Size throughout the US

Other than the usual (Taurus as full and GM/CV as premium), I have gotten a Buick Regal and a Nissan Maxima as full (JAX), and a Toyota Camry once as full (SAN) and once as premium (DAY).

I've had a bit more variance here.

Full size:
Ford Taurus (Common)

Specialty Fullsize:
Grand Prix, Wide Track
Buick Century

Specialty Premium:
Hyundai XG350 (BWI) - I was scared at first when I saw the Hyundai key, but it wasn't a bad car if you're a fan of plastic wood.

Also, I have been given:

Impala SS
Buick Regal
Toyota Avalon
Mitsu Diamanti
'03 Maxima

BTW, they tried to give me the Grand Prix and then a RAV4 at DFW for a fullsize res last week. They actually thought they were upgrading me. No way that either should be considered a fullsize, standard at best. Ended up with a Vic.

Best part about PC was that I didn't get a Taurus 30+ times like last year. God I hate those.

The Grand Prix not a full-size? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/confused.gif

The Grand Prix GT I got in MIA earlier this year, with leather, bucket seats, and sunroof, is about the nicest full-size I've ever gotten from any rental company. As for the RAV4, Hertz seems to consider any SUV, even a "compact" one like the RAV4 (or the Escape, which I've gotten a few times on full-size reservations) an "upgrade" since they have a higher rental price (and I'll personally take one as an upgrade from full-size anytime).

I should add that the Avalon and Diamanti are both Specialty Premiums (YG), not Specialty Fullsize (YF).

Thought I might update this with some recent info on my last two rentals..

1) Fullsize: Received a Taurs, with Neverlost (not ordered)

2) Premium: Crown Vic, with leather,power seats,CD.

Handles like crap though, I think I would have preferred the Grand Marquis, just a gut feeling...

The Grand Marquis has stability control, and I notice it handles better on the highway then the Crown Victoria. A little less "wallow". Mind you, I rent these cars cause they're huge and make perfect highway cruisers for those 300-mile drives. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Yep, the wallow is exactly what bothers me...plus the fact that I feel like I'm an undercover cop in the Crown Vic. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Yeah, but people get out of your way! Just set the cruise control for five over and watch traffic part like the Red Sea before Moses. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

That is so true! I had a Crown Vic as a rental for a few months and it was probably the fastest vehicle from point A to point B that I have ever driven in the US due to this amazing 'benefit'.

I was talking to the desk agent at PBI on Sunday night while she tried to source a G35 for me and she mentioned that they are due to have a number of Lexus cars delivered soon, though she wasn't sure which models. PBI is seemingly becoming a great place to rent something other than a Taurus.

Thats pretty good news ! Hope some of the Chicago locations follow suit...

Regarding the Crown Vic, I broke down and am trading it in tomorrow for a Volvo S80. My first in that class, so I am looking forward to it, should handle a little better than the "rolling sofa". http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Also,I kept getting this craving for coffee in a styrofoam cup and a donut when getting in the Crown Vic.Not to mention I started talking funny on my cell phone while in the car "Roger that, JohnG in pursuit"..etc.. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Or a taxi driver http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Last trip to LAX I hired a luxury grade and got a Lincoln Town Car. So much room in the boot (trunk) I could actually stand our cases up in there!
