Have a rez with Hertz for a weeks rental and wanted to see if I can use a class upgrade. Has anybody done this using a rez made via Priceline? Thanks,

No you can't use coupons with a Priceline or Hotwire reservation at any car rental firm. Hertz can not open your reservation to add you #1 Club Card, either. You must go to the rental desk.
I have asked nicely at the desk and have been upgraded but that is at the discretion of the agent. I'm #1 Club Gold which helped in pulling up my personal profile at the time of pick-up but I don't believe I got any favors due to that. Just due to asking nicely.

Priceline rentals are the one case where it helps to have the plastic card for #1 Club Gold. PCLN rentals place another code where your #1 Club Gold number would go, so you can't call afterwards and have it added. BUT...you can carry the card along with your rental printout and go to the #1 Club Gold booth if there is one. Not the regular line.
(For Alamo, they have been able to successfully add my Quicksilver number to a Priceline rental, but that's another topic.)
As for the upgrade, take it along and see what happens. If you have compact or midsize booked, they might take the cert, throw it in the circular file, and give you a bit better car. (Alamo does this even wth PCLN rentals.) Don't expect to go from full to premium or premium to SUV or anything like that. But it *might* get you out of a Contour or something.
