Just wondering will the new Mazda 6 replacing 626 soon? How about the new Maxima?

The Mazda 6 and Nissan Maxima (with the Altima having been upsized into the Maxima's previous territory) have both moved up from their previous iterations in terms of size and content, so I'm not sure the 6 would be considered an Intermediate and the Maxima a Full-size any longer, I think they may be considered full-size and Premium, respectively ... but I haven't heard for sure.

I think Hertz is having a serious problem with the mid-size category with Ford and now Mazda both eliminating their entries in that class, they may have to move to GM to start filling that along with Hyundai ... does Hertz offer the Sonata already as a mid-size?

Just finished three weeks of visits to Michigan and the Hertz location at MBS placed me in brand new Maximas. Very nice ride.

I'm about to finish up a weekly rental in a new Mazda 6. Pretty nice car. Great acceleration. I have to be very careful on the highways. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Are they belong to full size (Class F)? Can I request one or just by luck? I prefer imports.

Thanks!

What's the class code on your contract for the car ... is it a D or F (or possibly YD or YF).

On my receipt it says 'Rate Class C. Is that what you wanted?

Yup, that means it's an Intermediate, which is surprising because I don't think it's much smaller than a Camry or Maxima or even Taurus these days ... but that's a good thing too, because as you said, it's supposed to be a nice car.

It definitely has less leg room for the rear pax than a Camry or Maxima. The trunk is huge though. It is a sportier car and I really wouldn't mind seeing it again in my parking spot.

As of today (5/27) SFO still had the 'old' maximas...any idea when the new ones will arrive?

I had the Mazda 6 at SJC last week and it was fantastic-- a HUGE improvement on the 626-- fast, handles well, and very comfortable. I was paying midsize and definitely consider it an upgrade (I think it was coded YC so don't think they've moved it into the Fullsize class, but I'm not positive).

I'd welcome the 6 again anytime.

I had a new Maxima (2003) when I was in SFO in Jan.

The "new" Maxima is the 2004. It's a new body style similar to the new Altima. It's also made in Tennessee, unlike the older version.
