I have to say I'm treated pretty well as a PC. Hertz often upgrades me to Neverlost and other vehicles.

I got a Sirius equipped vehicle recently. I was pleasantly surprised by it. I love channel 66 - The Beat, which has Euro dance music on it. Also Channel 98, Sounds, is a great channel with world music.

The only disappointment was that it frequently lost track of the satellite, and you can't memorize your favorite stations with the basic unit in the vehicle...

Wow, I have XM Radio and LOVE it ... and am hoping to get Sirius occasionally when I rent from Hertz, but I'm surprised you had Satellite problems ... I hardly ever have such problems with XM (only in mountains and parking garages basically), and I've heard Sirius is supposed to be better about this because they have three satellites instead of two ... where were you with the car?

We had a Sirius for a week in April (but not last week http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif ). It seemed to work well in South Florida, although tended to drop the signal when under highways. Really liked Fox News (during the war) and the Old Time Radio channels.

I had Sirius in a Taurus in SMF in April. I liked it and had little trouble with reception; I think it's a pretty good idea and like the fact that Hertz is starting to add this to their cars.

I might actually think about getting this service for one of my vehicles if I ever get to stay home long enough to drive one of them for more than 3 days in a row at a time...

I was in LA, and lost the signal frequently near LAX, as well as east LA...

Is it possible to ask for a car with Sirius or do the clerks typically have no idea what Sirius is and even if they do no record of which cars have it installed and which don't?

Absolutely, but if you ask for it, you should expect to pay extra for it. Like Neverlost, Hertz is selling this as an added cost option, but like Neverlost, you will sometimes get it for free when you pick your car up.

Where do they normally show up? Is there a good chance of getting one in a Taurus or something better up?

I've seen the antennas on several Tauri and just yesterday I saw one on a Windstar, so it's not like they're only on Prestige Collection or anything.

I had in a Taurus in February. Never asked for it and wasn't charged for it (I'm Presidents Circle). Lost the signal a few times between LAX and Universal City.

In the UK we have a similar digital radio system, except it is land and not satellite based.

A buddy of mine rented one on a Pontiac Sunfire...
