I called Hertz Gold today, the rep told me they do carry Escalade @LAX and selected airports. Surprise?! I believe GM owns Caddi right?

Correct. Ford owns majority of Hertz, I believe.

I am surprised that they are willing to let Hertz rent GM vehicles....

I was given a Chevy Blazer once in YVR, not the expected Ford Explorer.

Also, right after the 97' T-Bird went bye-bye, I though Hertz was using the Chevy Monte Carlo as their full-size 2-door class before they slotted the Mustang in it's place.

I picked up a car at MIA on Friday night, and the #1 Club Gold section was chock full of Grand Prix, Aleros, and Monte Carlos ... I thought I was at Avis.

I was very pleasantly surprised to pick up my "mid-size" reservation ... a Pontiac Grand Prix GT (class YF) with leather interior and a sunroof (while I've seen plenty of Grand Prix on rental lots, they're almost always the lower end SE model ... Avis at one time rented Grand Prix GT's as a separate class than other Grand Prix). They also had Toyota Celicas, which I've never seen ... needless to say they're were as many non-Ford products as Ford products in the #1 Club Gold section (even counting the Jags as Fords, which they are of course now).

Just rented an Escalade in HNL. They just got them in on Mon. 6/14

The Escalade so far is nice and fun to drive. Kinda surprised to see these cars in HNL.

I wouldn't mind trying a DeVille instead of my usual Town Car one of these days. Looks bigger inside, and that 270hp Northstar V8 is a nice upgrade from the 230 or so in the TC.

Had the choice of a DeVille or Town Car at FAT last week. Took the TC. Will try the DeVille next time. Must say the TC hauled butt and got around 18 mpg in mixed driving. Carried 5 adults pretty comfortably. Made a great wedding day hauler (people and stuff) for my wife, who was the coordinator. BTW, the TC had under 6K on it.

Have rented a Buick Century at FAT, instead of Taurus. Jury still out but I think it was roomier.

Saw an '04 T-bird 'vert on the lot last time I was there....nice :)

They gave me a Grand Am this weekend in DFW. I seriously considered asking for another car, but I wasn't in the mood to solicit something better.

I also got a Century once at ATL.

I dread any Chevy, Pontiac, or Buick sedans. Not all that geeked about their low-end two-door junk either.

But I might be interested in a De Ville. All of those lux cars look like stuff my grandfather would have driven, but I understand that Caddy has tweaked a lot of their stuff to be a bit more high-performance.

In Columbus, OH Hertz has tons of VW Jettas and Passats -- apparently the guy who is the Hertz franchisee there also owns a VW dealership. Unfortunately, none of the VWs come with NL, and I think you end up paying a one car class premium to get one.

I admit I like the Chevy Impala - it is so far the only full-size that I actually can keep my legs straight in (I normally rent Crown Vic/Grand Marquis since I can stretch there, too).

Alas my wonderful Mercury Sable hit her oil change mileage so they couldn't let me keep her. Can't stretch my legs in her, but she was so well-equipped even for 100 mile runs I lived with it. :)

I swapped her for a YF Impala for the weekend, and hope she'll be back in service in Monday. I told them to hold her for me. ;)
