Had a misarable experience with Hertz in Chicago. Started with a nice upgrade because of Gold, but that was the only thing good about the experience.
Final to a long series of problems was the cars heater fan did not work, so I froze and had to keep wiping the windows by hand so I could see out.
When I got the usual, "So was everything ok?" question when I returned, I said, "No the car was aweful, the fan didn't work and I froze".
The response I got from the hertz employee, "Here's your receipt, have a nice day".

What I expect from Hertz - NOT EXACTLY.

So, Where is the best place to send this.

i agree with your complaint--if return agents are going to ask if the car was OK, they should have some mechanism to handle a negative response. i've pointed out smaller things--broken radio and the like--and i'm sure nothing happened. agents have been apologetic, but they don't seem able to do anything about it. very frustrating. they should carry problem report slips, fill them out, and drop them on the driver's seat....

the one time i had a big enough problem that i wanted to get rid of the car, i called hertz reservations, which in turn called the manager of the nearest "local edition" location (not where i rented), and had me in a new vehicle with no problem.

back on topic, i have no idea where to send the complaint... :-/

Seat1A's comment about changing the car is right on with my experience. Any time that I have a car with something wrong, Hertz has immediately directed me to the nearest station which will have been alerted that I'm coming and which has a replacement ready to go when I get there.

Same here...I always call 800-car-gold and explain the problem...but if I had a major problem I'd write to the owners of Hertz at: William Clay Ford Jr, Chairman/CEO, Ford Motor Company, 1 The American Road, Dearborn MI 48126-2701

I agree that exchanging the car is the best solution.

Last time I swapped a car was a Mitsubishi Galant that had bad brakes, alignment was noticeably out of whack, made noise when you turned, and had a discolored rear bumper. Basically this car had been in an accident and not repaired too well, and I wasn't too interested in driving around in this death trap. I reported this about an hour after renting, and they offered to swap the car at any airport or local Hertz office in the area. I had reserved a compact, was upgraded to midsize (Galant), and when I swapped, they apologized and gave me a full-size with free satellite radio.

I usually don't have any problems with Hertz's vehicles, but when I do, they seem to take care of it if you let them know.

Here's the corporate address to complain:

Only had the car for a day.
Didn't have time to do an exchange, as I was doing business.
Feel as I did not get my money's worth for that Day.

I realize this thread is old, but the address above is listed on www.usps.gov as not deliverable. Is there another OK Hertz Customer Relations address or one for Golds only? There is no post address on www.hertz.com

Thanks.

I have had pretty good luck using the web based survey (https://www.hertz.com/rentacar/customersupport/index.jsp?targetPage=satisfactionSurvey.jsp) as a first point of contact for a complaint.

If you don't like that option, call them at 888-777-6095 and ask for a mailing address.

I have generally had good results using the "contact us" link on hertz.com. It will give you a form to fill out with your rental info (if you are logged in it will pre-populate info such as name and address) and space to write your questions/complaint. I normally get a response with 5-7 days.

Hertz isn't owned by Ford anymore. That address is at least a year old. The best way to contact someone is under customer support on the hertz web site. Then under 'contact us', then click on 'by phone'. Contact customer relations and they will take care of the issue or they will give you the address so you can mail in your complaint.

Considering this thread started in 2003 and the post was made then...its safe to say you just posted the obvious.

Since NeoOfTheCRS just posted to it yesterday, that made it new to me. But I do thank you for enlightening my mind.
