Has anybody rented this year from the IAD location... there's been such a tremendous improvement in customer service and efficiency. I've been renting from them for 7 years and something has just changed for the better

I'm not too sure. I don't have any status with them yet, but the last time I rented a car from there (I get monthly rentals so the last time was about 2 weeks ago) it took the guy behind the counter forever to find my reservation. Then when he "found" it and started printing out the paperwork he verified that it was renting a compact for 2 days...which was not my reservation. Ok, so we spend another 5 minutes with me insisting that he just look at my simple last name on my drivers license instead of him erroneously continuing to type my name in wrong into the computer. I was ready to type it in myself I was getting so frustrated. Hopefully this was just a one-time occurance (haven't had too many problems there before) and that things will improve in the future.

I'll believe it when I see it. One reason I stopped flying into IAD last year was to avoid that Hertz rental location. Of course this wasn't the only reason, but certainly one of them.

I'll believe it when I see it. One reason I stopped flying into IAD last year was to avoid that Hertz rental location. Of course this wasn't the only reason, but certainly one of them.

I'll be interested to test this out -- my impression of the IAD locationis that the Return staff are far more interested in sitting in their mini-van chatting and listening to music than helping the throngs of customers who'd like to dump their cars and make their flights.

Are you joking? The Hertz return area at IAD is a complete zoo. Yesterday I had to wait five minutes while three of the return computer people talked to each other and then two of them went on break leaving one person to handle ten cars by himself. He actually did a pretty good job of it but in the meantime the bus left and four or five us are left to wait ten minutes for another bus. And it's always like this at IAD. Are you saying it was worse seven years ago?
