Is anyone out there using this program? It is designed for small to medium sized businesses. You set yourself up on the program, and they assign you your own CDP #, free Hertz #1 Club Gold access for all your employees, and for all qualified rentals you earn free rental days.

I am still waiting to speak with a slaes rep from Hertz about this program, but was wondering if any of us FT'rs out there are currently using it.

I am self-employed, and this seems like a good deal for earning some free rental days. Don't know what kind of rates this CDP number will garner as well.

I've had a Hertz corporate number for my company for the last several years. Sometimes there is a savings and sometimes not. There is a guaranteed maximum rate that we pay. I believe it is $48 for a full-size. Quite honestly there are usaully better rates if we book well in advance of a trip. If we wait until the day before, our corporate rate is generally lower. There is always a 5% discount on the lowest rate that we find. If you are just interested in a free #1 club gold application let me know and I'll be happy to send you one via snail mail.

I forgot to mention that for every five rentals, you receive a coupon for one free rental day. These coupons can be combined, but they are only valid at corporate owned Hertz locations. They are mailed to you quarterly with a statement of activity. Weekly rentals count as two rental days towards the five required for a free day. Rentals of less than one week count as one day's credit towards the five. If there is little rental activity on your account Hertz may increase your guaranteed rate.

Good feedback TTT103!

I am already a #1 Club Gold member...was just thinking that a business account might help for a few free days of rental, when I needed them. since most of my rentals are client paid, rates are not all that important, as long as they are "in the ballpark" of what I currently pay.

A few other questions...

* When you say "corporate owned" Hertz locations for use of the free day certificates...what do you mean exactly?
* What constitutes a "Weekly" rate with Hertz? how many days?

* Are the Free Day certificates truly free days, or are they some kind of rent X days, get Y free?

* Can you combine this business account CDP number with other coupons (like $ off, free tank of gas, etc.)?

* Can we also still eanr Hertz #1 award points for these rentals?

1) I am not certain as to what constitutes a weekly rate in terms of the rental credit. This is something new that Hertz started last quarter. My guess is that it would be 5 to 7 days.

2)The free rental days are really free. Each rental location seems to apply them a bit differently. For example, in Orlando I usually end up paying a couple of dollars even if I have free day coupons for each day. On the other hand, we rented from Steamboat, CO two weeks ago and I wasn't charged a cent. In any case, I've never paid more than $10 for a seven day rental using free coupons. The way the reservation works is that you call Hertz and let them know how many free day certificates you are going to redeem. You make the reservation at your corporate rate and they apply the free rental days upon the actual rental counter at the airport. You can use #1 Club Gold, but you usually have to go to a counter upon your return of the car. Sometimes larger locations can process the coupons with the hand held machines.

3) Yes, you can combine your CDP # with other promotions like a free rental day or $10 off. In fact, Hertz will send you a bunch of coupons each quarter along with your statement. There are always upgrade coupons in there and usually dollars off coupons.

4) You can still earn Hertz #1 award points and FF mile points.

5) The free rental day certificates are only valid at corporate owned locations. These are usually larger airports; however, I found that Boise, Idaho is not a corporate owned location, but a place like Steamboat was. It makes little sense to me. About six months ago, Hertz added Europe and Canada as valid redemption locations.

6) I forgot to mention that free rental day certificates are valid for about one year. Since there is a lag in receiving them, they're really only good for about 10 months.

TTT103,

Once again, thank you for your feedback. Sounds like a worthwhile program to join, which I will do shortly.

GoCanes,
Are you a Miami Hurricanes fan, or what? I'm originally from Miami and even though I went to school at Georgia Tech, my heart lies with my Canes from days of growing up and pounding on the likes of Nebraska, FSU, and UF. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

I am a Univ. of Miami graduate, C/O 2000. I am in law school now, but I still love Miami football. This last year was sweet and I am really looking forward to seeing who gets drafted and then on to next season. Dorsey for Heisman and NC #6.

I have a Canada Small Business Account with Hertz and I get excellent rates in Toronto and London, UK. Last week I drove a Ford Escape 4x4 for $29 CND + tax = $41 total from YYZ (including all airport charges etc).

My London rates are not as good as Toronto's but certainly cheaper than the going travelocity, AC or KLM Goldwing rate.

I find the rates tend to be cheaper for last minute bookings rather than advance bookings.

I recently signed up my company for this as well. I'll be using the first rental with it this Saturday, but I was wondering. As a #1 Gold, do I have to show my business card to anyone to "prove" that I work for my company that's assigned the CDP #? Are we able to provide the CDP # to friends so that they get the discount and we get the free rentals (since I'm the head of the program) or do they have to show a business card or other proof working for my company. Just wondering anyone's experience with that. Thanks.

You do not have to show any type of proof when picking up a car so you can easily provide your CDP # to others. One caution is that your companies name will show up on their rental agreement. This could be a liability issue for your company is something happens. Also, you can call Hertz and link your new CDP # to your #1 Club Gold.

I belong to the Business Account Program (https://www.hertz.com/business_09/accounts/index.html) offered by Hertz:
Your company will earn one rental credit for each rental day. Accumulate 15 rental credits and earn a Free Rental Day certificate. Receive 5 automatic rental credits towards a Free Rental Day just for enrolling. Obtain double credit for all your rentals completed during the first 90 days of your enrollment. It is a good program and I have already earned a free rental day coupon, but I have found that my CDP#, more often than not, does not get me the best rate with Hertz.

with the CDP# for your company, does ALL the insurance coverages apply? My company covers anything that can happen to the car with free unlimited mileage. This causes the rate sometime to be a little higher but the insurance coverage overshadows this.

I used to see a lower AAA rate but later found out it didn't include all the insurances. It makes a big difference when you get into an accident and your regular personnal rate for your own car goes up.

Something to think about ;)
