Hi,
Just a quick question to see whether one can just walk to the car rental places at DCA or should they take the shuttle, which if I recall, kind of go around in a circle before getting to the car rental place.

I think it's a bit away from the new terminal (B/C), but I saw signs in the parking garage indicating that one could walk over to the car rental. So I'm wondering if I should take the shuttle or walk--which one would be faster? I'll be arriving on UA flight and will be in a bit of hurry.

BTW, do they (Hertz) have their own parking spaces for Gold #1 members? Or do I need to pick up the key at some desk before I get to the car? Thanks!

Thanks a lot!

P.s. Yes, this was posted over in Airline/Car Rental/Airport area in Travel forum (below TravelBuzz), but got no response and thought this would be a better place.

I haven't been at DCA since last August, but I remember the rental car agencies being a five minute walk (across the street) from baggage claim. Don't recall if they had a #1 Gold aisle!

If you don't have alot to schlepp, then I suggest you walk (5mins max) incl one flight of stairs/elevator (up)- it's good exercise! I use Hertz and I believe that they have most of the 1# Gold perks.

If you come in the south end of the new terminal it is an easy walk. Take the Metro bridge past the Metro entrance and turn left. You walk under a covered path to the garage. I almost always walk from the garage to the terminal because it is faster than the bus. Terminal to garage is pretty fast if you do not have to wait for a bus.

Thanks everyone! As I thought, it isn't too far and easy to get, so I'll be walking over there when I get in tomorrow.

Thanks again!

You could walk - but only if the weather is nice would you want to bother. Plus, it'll be a right long walk if you're coming in from say the US Airways area. And yes, there is a Club #1 Gold area. Have a great trip to DC.

My 2 cents are to walk.

If you have a lot of stuff get a baggage cart - the shuttle buses are a pain and usually packed (one bus for all rental car companies).
