Curious if anyone got their Platinum cards yet? Since the golds are starting to get theirs.

Nothing here in Jersey City but got my Marriott Silver and a Radisson card (for ONE stay last year!)

It wasn't in my mailbox today. When I called the Platinum number today for a reservation, there was a recording that said they started sending them out on Feb 9th, and it should be received by the end of the month.

Edited to spell correctly...

Each and every time I check in, unless they recognize me. Just in case they don't see the Platinum status in the reservation record.

Ken,

I will take your tip on board. I guess that this is a polite way of saying I am Plat and I know the score. To Be honest I have never been unhappy with any *wood property (with the exception of Essex Hse) with regards to Plat recognition and benifits at check inn.

Is Gold level members supposed to received a new card during this period as well? I have made two phone requests to the SPG C/S in the past couple of months and both time were told no problem. I still have not got mine yet.

I was to get a Gold card last year and was told to give it 30 days. I gave it 90 and still no card. I then went to the site and "requested a new card". It came within 2 weeks.

There is always a yearly moratorium on sending out new elite member cards. It used to run from late November to March, but this year ran from January 1 to March.

If you don't get a new card within 4 - 6 weeks from now, follow Vulcan's advice.

For those still waiting....here's what the card looks like. Looks like they've been lurking on FT as a suggestion (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum74/HTML/009191.html) was implemented on the back of the cards.

Mine arrived yesterday. Looks identical to last year's card. In the list of Platinum benefits on the back, it says "Exclusive, elite level check-in". Anyone knows what that refers to and anyone try it? I don't recall seeing any exclusive elite check in desks in the hotels I have been to...

Got my Platinum card today.

I LOVE the benefits being printed on the back! I bet Lurker passed along that suggestion to the powers that be. It is very helpful when it seems often the front desk seems to have no idea what the benefits are.

Thank You

Got mine today and have to agree with you. This card gets the award for being the chintziest looking thing I've ever tossed in my wallet. Like lamented cardboard or something. It reminds me of the cheapo luggage tags we got last year.

Really surprises me that someone at Starwood Marketing would agree to spend so much on the packaging (envelope, booklet and such) that just gets tossed in the trash or a drawer someplace, and yet they get so incredibly cheap on the one item that probably stays "in the face" of it's members on a day to day basis more than any other...the membership card!

At least the new card will not fade the words "Platinum" from the card.

Although, I agree the card looks and feels like it has been laminated, but I think having the elite status words (ie. Platinum and Gold) without fading is a big plus over the old card.

I have had my old Platinum card (with the old style raised name and account number) for over a year and a half and the embossed "Platinum" is still shiney and silver.

What are you folks doing to your cards that causes the embossing to fade? Rubbing them like dice?

Finally got it in Jersey City.

But one thing... it would be nice if they change the design yearly. Not that I don't like the Taj Mahal, but maybe something different (United changes it's card design yearly... sometimes not for the best!) http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Or the Platinums should pick their own location designs. Like for me: NYC skyline or Eifel tower. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

That could bankrupt starwood though.

There are some SPG properties out there, especially in Asia, that request the card. Since I travel to far flung locations around the world, I always bring a huge stack of cards. And every once in a while I need them!

Yet I haven't received my 2004 Platinum card yet. Maybe someday soon?

It might not bankrupt them, but instead they might be even slower in sending the card out. I'm still waiting in ATL.

ESTRAGON:
Charming spot. (He turns, advances to front, halts facing auditorium.) Inspiring prospects. (He turns to Vladimir.) Let's go.
VLADIMIR:
We can't.
ESTRAGON:
Why not?
VLADIMIR:
We're waiting for Godot.
ESTRAGON:
(despairingly). Ah! (Pause.) You're sure it was here?
VLADIMIR:
What?
ESTRAGON:
That we were to wait.
VLADIMIR:
He said by the tree. (They look at the tree.) Do you see any others?
ESTRAGON:
What is it?
VLADIMIR:
I don't know. A willow.
ESTRAGON:
Where are the leaves?
VLADIMIR:
It must be dead.
ESTRAGON:
No more weeping.
VLADIMIR:
Or perhaps it's not the season.
ESTRAGON:
Looks to me more like a bush.
VLADIMIR:
A shrub.
ESTRAGON:
A bush.
VLADIMIR:
A—. What are you insinuating? That we've come to the wrong place?
ESTRAGON:
He should be here.
VLADIMIR:
He didn't say for sure he'd come.
ESTRAGON:
And if he doesn't come?
VLADIMIR:
We'll come back tomorrow.
ESTRAGON:
And then the day after tomorrow.
VLADIMIR:
Possibly.
ESTRAGON:
And so on.
VLADIMIR:
The point is—
ESTRAGON:
Until he comes.
VLADIMIR:
You're merciless.
ESTRAGON:
We came here yesterday.
VLADIMIR:
Ah no, there you're mistaken.
ESTRAGON:
What did we do yesterday?
VLADIMIR:
What did we do yesterday?
ESTRAGON:
Yes.
VLADIMIR:
Why . . . (Angrily.) Nothing is certain when you're about.
ESTRAGON:
In my opinion we were here.
VLADIMIR:
(looking round). You recognize the place?
ESTRAGON:
I didn't say that.
VLADIMIR:
Well?
ESTRAGON:
That makes no difference.
VLADIMIR:
All the same . . . that tree . . . (turning towards auditorium) that bog . . .
ESTRAGON:
You're sure it was this evening?
VLADIMIR:
What?
ESTRAGON:
That we were to wait.
VLADIMIR:
He said Saturday. (Pause.) I think.
ESTRAGON:
You think.
VLADIMIR:
I must have made a note of it. (He fumbles in his pockets, bursting with miscellaneous rubbish.)
ESTRAGON:
(very insidious). But what Saturday? And is it Saturday? Is it not rather Sunday? (Pause.) Or Monday? (Pause.) Or Friday?
VLADIMIR:
(looking wildly about him, as though the date was inscribed in the landscape). It's not possible!
ESTRAGON:
Or Thursday?
VLADIMIR:
What'll we do?
ESTRAGON:
If he came yesterday and we weren't here you may be sure he won't come again today.
VLADIMIR:
But you say we were here yesterday.

You're not alone. I have the same situaction (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/starwood-preferred-guest/920625-design-my-2009-spg-platinum-card-3.html) on May 17, and Lurker II take care for me over the phone & PM, but still nothing come up now. :(

Lurker II said maybe they need to send it to a difference address to check if something wrong with my original P.O. Box address, but I have to say it just works great except SPG material. Maybe Hyatt or ICH play some magic with my P.O. Box address so SPG material will disappear forever ;)

RichardKopf
Jun 18, 09, 3:19 am
I don't believe they are actually sending one to me. I reached Platinum in January and haven't received a card, although I have requested it 3 times over 5 months.

Lurker told me my address was incorrect but in my profile, but it is as per Australian standards and looks totally correct.

I guess the cards aren't really important but I wish I had a Starwood card instead of a Priority Club card with my Starwood number on the back.
