Starwood Preferred Guest - What Gold U/G @ Sheraton Maui & Kapalua Bay

I've reserved a gardenview room at both properties in hopes of an upgrade based on my Gold SPG status. How does each hotel handle SPG upgrades. Is it reasonable to think that I might be upgraded to an oceanview/partial oceanview room?

I was there recently and was upgraded to a partial oceanview room.

I think it depends on what time of year you have booked these two hotels for. During some months it's very busy on Maui. Summer time is always busy over there as well as any holiday period. Spring break is about to bloom so it will be quite crazy. If you are going over in the fall your chances are better.
