Starwood Preferred Guest - SPG AMEX for 1K first stay, 500/ea next ten stays -- How long to post?

Hi,
I applied for the SPG AMEX late last year and I *just* received my 4K signup bonus after waiting 60 days after the close of my first billing cycle and both emailing the SPG lurker and calling AMEX to open an investigation, I received my 4K points yesterday. I'm not sure which path actually led me to getting the pts but either way, this squeeky wheel is happy.

Now, I'm still looking for the 1st stay bonus. I've called AMEX again and rattled their chain but they say it can take up to 8-12 weeks for the bonus to post.

For those of you who haven't had any problems getting your 1K for the first stay and 500/ea for the next ten stays, how soon did these points post?

I stayed at the 4pts Sheraton Silverthorne on 1/1 - 1/2, received my normal stay pts + bonus on 1/3, but have yet to receive the 1Kk bonus as promised.

I finally got the card last summer, and they've been fine about the bonuses (give or take the 4K signup bonus, which I also had to call in to request). In reviewing my activity, it looks like Amex does a sweep once a month - regardless of when I stay in a given month, I've been getting the 500 pt bonus around the 3rd or 4th of the following month.

I've gotten my bonus points within days of my next statement closing. I guess when they process (close) your statement, they look at Starwood charges and then post the 500 points for each stay.

Exactly my experience. The points post like clockwork, except for the initial bonus.

I got card in 12/02/03, stayed on 12/26/03, got my 1K on 1/02/04, 3K 1/06/04.

What I dont understand, is the 1K & 3K split.. any ideas

Well, it looks like the automated system gave me the 1K bonus pts at the same time it issued me the monthly AMEX earnings.

For me, my billing cycle closed on 1/21 and both the regular SPG earnings + bonus SPG pts posted on 1/27.

I was just a little scared about this b/c I had to wait ~3 months before getting my 4K signup bonus.
