Starwood Preferred Guest - Any Starwood Properties on Big Island?

Hey Gang,

Just wondering... are there any Starwood properties on the Big Island of Hawaii?

And, if so, do you recommend them?

There will be, Starting on Oct. 1st. The old Kona Surf was acquired and renovated by Starwood, and it will be a Sheraton. It won't be as fancy as the Mauna Lani Orchid was, but the location IMHO is amajor improvement over Puako. It's just south of Keauhou Bay, which is 10-15 min. from Kona. The area has some great (if crowded) snorkelling beaches, and manta rays hang out in the waters in front of the hotel and can often be seen feeding at night right below the hotel terraces (at least they could when it was the Kona Surf and they turned powerful searchlights on at night). If you do a search on Kona, you'll find more info was posted about it over the last two months.
