Starwood Preferred Guest - Amex $1000 spend promotoion for 5000 points

I spent over $1000 on my AMEX card at Starwood properties during this promotion, however also cancelled a reservation paid for before the promotion and recived my night's prepayment back approximately $450

So net net I only have $800 in Amex spending at Starwood's

Do I still get my 5000 bonus?

I would ask American Express. If I were pressed for an answer, it would be "no".
