I will be having my wedding reception at a Westin next year. Will the amount I spend on the reception count towards earning points? If I spend $15,000 on the reception, I should get 45,000 points, correct? (3 *points per $1 spent)

Thanks.

More like 5,000 Starpoints, provided you contract with the hotel sales department to earn Starwood Preferred Planner points.

I tried to deal with a local starwood on my wedding as well, but they wouldn't offer more than 1 pt per $1. Which is up from the 1 point for $3 that preferred planners get, in the end went to the Fairmont as it was a better value overall.

For the same reason, my family had a wedding at a Renaissance as opposed to a Westin. The cost was about the same, but the Renaissance offered my relative 10 Marriott points per dollar (for everything - rooms, flowers, hall, food, etc) as opposed to the 5,000 max at Westin.
