RECENTLY ARRIVED WITH SPG VALID RESERVATION,for a revenue stay, hotel says * Central Reservation made mistake since hotel has been fully booked. Sent me to other non * hotel. I incurred extra transportation costs. SPG so far says no SPG ff points and referred me to hotel. ORIGINAL HOTEL SAYS ALSO SINCE I DID NOT STAY THERE, NO POINTS.
WHAT WOULD YOU DO? Also, SPG for Platinums policy of finding a room within same hotel doesn't apply???

Take SPG statement. Pour into engine crankcase. Start car and enjoy improved gas mileage and smoother operation.

RichG,

Thank you. My spelling deserved it.

There are several recent past posts on walking a guest and compensation. I would do a search.

Email the Starwood Lurker in this forum, and I bet he can solve it. Do a search for his name, and you find his email.

Why didn't you just edit the original post?

It is a bit confusing.

Normally, when hotels "walk" you they soften the blow in various ways. Did they do NOTHING for you? Your summary is so devoid of detail it's hard to tell.

Best Rates GUARANTEE says:

• CUSTOMER SERVICE. By booking directly with us, you can be assured that your reservation will be made exactly as you planned it. That means no surprises when you arrive.

If it was a revenue stay (you seem to imply that but your initial post is so vague I cannot really see exactly what your complaint is "STP so far says no STP points" etc) they are toast.

You should get the walked room free, AND be awarded points you would have got at first location, AND be re-imbursed for cab fare.
