Starwood Preferred Guest - Complimentary gym access inside the spa??

As platinum members one of our benefits is:

"Enjoy complimentary access to the hotel gym and Executive and Club Level floors at WestinŽ and SheratonŽ Hotels & Resorts."

I have an upcoming stay at the Westin Century Plaza and I believe their gym is within the Spa Mystique. Will complimentary access be granted to the gym that is within the spa??

Thanks for your input. I will report back after my stay!

You should get complimentary access to the hotel's fitness center. Spa services, however, will cost extra.

Welcome back!!

Do you mean Services or facilities?

My understanding is:
Services: Massage, treatments, facials etc..
Facilities: Use of sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, etc.

Come on.. the use of facilities should be complementary for platinum!! Some hotels offer it for free for all guests. I guess this is the least that can be offered for Platinum!

I have been charged several times at some Starwoods as a hotel guest. I am a Platinum; however, in some locations (Sheraton Lisbon comes to mind) I have been charged daily fees for gym usage. In Lisbon, those fees were so inflated and the front desk people refused to allow this Platinum perk through. There were a few other locations that this happened to me last year, I cant remember where else but sure that this was in Europe.

Is this perk only free for Platinums in North American hotels?

We just stayed at the Century Plaza and were allowed to use the gym and use the sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, etc... within Spa Mystique for free since I'm platinum. Too bad we didn't use it! Too nice outside to be cooped up, and it seemed like a strange setting for a spa- completely enclosed. I go to the Claremont in Berkeley very often, so it's a totally different feel, so that may be all there is to that. Have a great time!

You can be charged if the hotel does not own the facilities. The Terms and Condiitions say, "3. Complimentary access to the hotel's health club/gym during your stay." Please note, it does not say access to the spa facilities, so that would be up to the hotel to decide. Spa services will definitely incur an extra charge, where applicable.

Well, as stated above, the Century Plaza does allow Platinum members to use their gym. It is separate from the spa, but still quite nice and large. I did not try to enter the spa to use any of their facilities.

This weekend I will be at the Westin Kierland in Phoenix and will report back if that is a "hotel (owned) gym." =)
