Starwood Preferred Guest - confused: 2 reservations on spg.com

Has anyone else had the experience of finding 2 [i]different[/i ]reservations for the same night/hotel on spg.com? I checked the details of both and one has me at the Westin Peachtree as a single adult with 2 double beds, the other has me as 2 adults with a suite (I aspire to be the latter http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif). Both are $99 rates. I know I made a single reservation on-line for 2 adults -- any guesses as to how the 1 adult reservation was spontaneously generated? I hope this won't pose a problem today when I check in.

My goodness...it sounds like this is truly a technical error. Unless you somehow actually completed two reservations...is that possible? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Despite my performance on this thread, it's not very likely http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif. Besides--why would I be 1 adult on one and 2 adults on the other? Also, I got only received a single email confirming my reservation even though I now have 2 reservations numbers...odd.

Not like the Cubs-and-Red-Sox-in-the-playoffs odd, but odd nonetheless...

Mystery solved (not that it was a mystery to anyone but me). The Westin had upgraded me to a suite and an internal method of managing the upgrade was to issue a "dummy" reservation.

It was nonetheless a little scary to have this dummy reservation say that if it wasn't cancelled 24 hours ahead of time I would be billed a night's stay (and that 24 hour window had closed). This may not be a bad thing for others to know...

Glad you found some humor in my post. An upgrade is always nice...congrats.
