Can someone provide a brief explanation as to how I could earn a Starwood VIP Card.
I understand this is not an advertised benefit but would like a brief overview on the benefits, eligibility and who can give these cards out.
Many thanks.

One doesn't earn it. One gets invited to be one by the Chairman & CEO or other high-ranking senior executive officers in the corporation.

Your one of those high ranking important executive types aren't you William?
I'll gladly accept an invite from you. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/cool.gif
I promise to stop whining about not being targeted for Free Weekends, and you can keep the luggage tags I never got yet. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Sorry. I don't have that kind of whack around here. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
You really should call Platinum Concierge and ask that your luggage tags be sent. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I am glad that this matter has been dealt with as I have a friend who is trying get his hands on the VIP card so that he does not need to qualify for the Platinum card every year - What a free loader!
VIP from what I understand is provided only to Very Important Persons and I am sure he will understand that he is only a very small fish in the large pond.

Thanks so Much Spellbound2!!!
I actually called yesterday to get a set sent but luggage tags aren't that important to me (even though I made it sound that way). Neither do the free weekends mean that much to me, but to Mrs 1K_From_SNA it does, as she and my daughter go to PSP or SAN for a night or two. I like my weekends in SNA. So it was just one of those "jabs" being un-targeted.
Enjoy your trip down this way and again thanks!!!

So is VIP status for life? Or does it get reviewed after a while? What about VIP for a particular hotel - is that valid just for a certain time period??
