I wanted to cancel my gold card because I like the *wood amex choice of airlines better. With MR I have tranfered miles into other family members accounts to get them tickets. Does the *wood mileage tranfers allow to you to that to or only to your own airline account?

thank you in advance for your help.

dinise - Others may have "better" information than I, but as I understand it,,,,,the only "transfers" of *points allowed to other's accounts are those which can be made between members who share the same address....

I'm not certain how rigourously this is enforced, because I've only transferred points back and forth between my wife and I (we DO still share the same address! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif ), but if you did that you could certainly then transfer points to their ff accounts wherever *points can go....

Good luck and Best wishes, Dave

The airlines will only accept Starpoints transfers from the member, not to other family members. Also, the name on your Starwood Preferred Guest account must match exactly how it appears on your airline frequent flyer account or the transfer will reject.

You can transfer Starpoints between members of your household as long as the address on the accounts are the same and you are not a Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide employee. Then, they can transfer these Starpoints to their airline frequent flyer account.

thank you so much for the information. Is there any minimum amounts to tranfer star points between one household account and another?

Again, the Lurker will no doubt have better information http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif, but I think your "limiting" factor is more likely to be the minimum point transfers from the *Wood account to the airline account, which IIRC is 2500 *points per transfer (reduced amounts for Gold/Platinum)

If you are planning to do a transfer of less than that amount between accounts, it may be a case of "asking nicely".

Good luck and Best wishes, Dave

There are minimum transfers that have to be made to the airlines based upon your status level in the Starwood Preferred Guest program, but there are no transfer limits on an internal transfer within the program.
