Did the OBB have a latter "use by" date than the book date? I know the bonus is gone now, but I booked a few stays early in December when it was still around and am not sure if my January stays I booked back then still qualify for the OBB.

Unfortunately the bonus required the reservation to be consumed before Jan 1. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Actually, I think it was book by Dec 31 and stay by Jan 31. Though, I could be wrong.

In order to earn the online booking bonus, your reservation would have had to have been consumed before January 1, 2003.

Thanks Lurker. I might as well go for the ultimate clarification.

Now that think about it I made the reservation during the last Westin 1000 point booking bonus. I assume that was consume by Jan 1 too. And... if I want to take advantage of the Big City bonus I need to rebook so I fall under the Jan 6th criteria, right?

Hi William:

I thought the Westin 1000 prom was for bookings during the stated period with the stay to be completed by the end of January. Can you check, I didn't print this off but booked my January stays in Westin Hotels when I saw the promo?

Thanks

I stand corrected, dmgt. The Westin 1,000 Starpoints web booking bonus was for stays completed by January 31, 2003. Thanks for catching that. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

schriste, if I lost you the 1,000 Starpoints because you re-booked it for Big City, just let me know. I'll be glad to see that you get them anyway.

Sorry, for bringing up this old thread but I didn't want to open a new one just for this question...

I'm not sure how the online booking bonus is handled. Let's say I make a booking online but in the end the stay credit and points are transferred over to someone else staying in the room. Who would get the online bonus? I see 3 possible scenarios:

1) I get the online bonus because I made the original reservation

2) The other person get's the bonus as he/she also receives the points for the stay

3) None of us get's the bonus as the system thinks I didn't use my booking and the other person hasn't booked it online

I hope it's 1), but I'm not sure how the system would know that I actually stayed...

Probably 3. There are several things that are looked at to determine who gets the web booking bonus and it sounds like you have upset the apple cart on the whole process.

If it had to be done as a missing web booking bonus - thirty days after check-out - then the points probably should go to the person who actually stayed and earned the stay credit; don't you think this is fair?

Does that mean that it is in general possible to get the bonus later on in this case? Or would this have to be made as a "special request" to SPG http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif ?

Sounds fair to me if the person receiving the stay credit gets the bonus, too, as long as the booking bonus is not "wasted". But how could SPG make sure that the booking was indeed made online by another person?

Thirty days after check-out we will still be able to see the reservation and where it was booked. If the person whose name is on the reservation has an SPG number on the reservation as well, it should not be a problem to get them the web booking bonus. It will probably not even be necessary to make an exception. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
