Just booked a three day stay at the Gritti Palace in January and they have a special deal available in December and january where you get the fourth night free. Breakfast is included as well (room is 400 euros/night). This good deal is also available at the Danieli....

Might check the 50% off for 5 nights for 1500 points. This rate usually excludes breakfast.
If the rate is around €250, would be €1000 for the stay, instead of €1200.
breakfast for 2 at the Danieli is probably close to €100 by now. I haven't looked for the past couple years, when it went over us$37pp.

I agree - am going to VCE from 4/14 - 4/18 but can't seem to find a decently priced hotel. At this rate, I will be paying 3 times for what I paid for my ticket.

This sounds like the Taste of Luxury Promotion, which most, if not all, of the Luxury Collection hotels participate in. I've done it a few times and it's definitely a good deal.
There are only certain times of the year when each individual hotel does the free night thing and it differs across properties. In my experience, they will still sell the package rate during the rest of the year but no free night is included. There's more information as to rates and validity periods on the Luxury Collection web site.
BTW - I haven't done breakfast at the Danieli in a few years, but last summer the E&R was charging €45; have to imagine the Danieli is at least that for their champagne breakfast.

My Danieli breakfasts have been sparkling Proseco breakfasts, not champagne.
