I need to travel to NYC over Memorial weekend (5/21-5/27 actually). My wife wants to stay in Midtown East close to NYU so we are looking at the Sheraton Russell and a few W hotels in the area. Any suggestions? We will be using starpoints and will have our 20 month old son with us.
Quick responses appreciated.

I've been staying at the Sheraton Russell for seven years and I would highly recommend it because of the excellent service (Abbie the concierge is the best!!) and fairly large NY rooms.
The W's (Tuscany and Court) are decent but dollar for dollar the Russell is a better bet. They treat Plats well there with large suites which would be great for your child

There are glowing reports of the Sheraton Russell (some from me). Do a search and you'll find them. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
Located on Park Ave at 37th street. You might say slightly off the beaten path. But then again I dislike the Times Sq area. Very busy.
Subways a few blocks away. Grand central a few blocks away.
Wonderful staff.
I Have PLAT status, and have always been upgraded to some kind of suite. They have 3 different suites that I'm aware of.
Nice continental breakfast. Ask for the certs when you check in.
As a matter of fact I have 2 reservations this summer. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/eek.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif I really like this 'old world' charmer.

I've stayed at the Court, the Russell and the W New York and like the Russell the best. Like every hotel, the Russell can have glitches, but unlike every hotel, they do their best to resolve the glitches quickly and favorably.
If you want to be closer to NYU, why don't you stay down at the W Union Square? Much better neighborhood, and you're only a 15 minute walk from NYU.

there are SCADS of thread on the NYC properties. i would figure out which properties would fit into your geographic area guidelines and then use the Search function.
