Starwood Preferred Guest - points for dinner

I'll be eating at the W San Diego Thursday evening but will not be staying at the hotel. Is there anyway to get Starwood points? I will be charging it to my Starwood AMEX account but thought I would get more being a SPG.

Make sure you have your Starwood card along with your Credit Card. However, if you forget, they are great about posting past bills. I met a friend for dinner at the Sheraton Suites in Mexico City and didn't even think about the points until a couple of months after. I just mailed in my credit card receipt and the points posted a day or two after they received it. No hassle.

A few of the restaurants are leased to completely outside operations. No Points.

Get a receipt, and fax it, the hassles at the dinner table are not worth it.
